The Nikkei 225 hit a 31 year high (30,796) in early trade but has slipped back.
Wall St broke 5 days of losses, (last week being the worst for the 500 since wk 24) despite nervousness in other S&P sectors energy gained 3% bouyed by higher oil prices. Brent rose 1% to $73•88 its highest since June following a bullish OPEC report on demand set reach 110•8m bopd exceeding pre pandemic levels. Big oil gained, Exxon $55 up 3%, Chevron $98 +2% and RDS(B) 1457p + 2%.
Apple users got a shock on Monday when it was disclosed Israeli spyware Co NSO had developed a way to take control over nearly any Apple computer, watch or i phone. Apple stock ticked up 58c at $149•50.
The USD climbed to a 2wk high on cont 'Taper' talk. Gold slipped despite Sept being one of the best months to buy Gold ahead of the Indian 'wedding season' and Oct festivals.
