Asian mrkts have rebounded strongly after Fridays sell off, worries over covid and Afghanistan forgotten as bargain hunters sought oversold stocks. All of the TSE's 33 sub indexes are in the black led up by motors. In pm trading the 225 was up 525.
Other exchanges have followed, HK up 450, Shanghai 34 better and big gains seen in Taiwan (+421). Gold has failed to breach $1800 and bears say expect another "sell off." Despite a weaker USD and global economic uncertainties Gold has been a poor performer this year.

Yea, higher up bunks! I wish you well even if your the last man standing.

Compensation?....c'mon guys, the KRG cannot even pay their bills when falling due! Thank God I got out much higher up the food chain. Boyo don't blame you for jumping this leaking ship. There have always been too many negatives for doing business in this part of the world and the board have been asleep at the wheel for too long in not diversifying away from this shambolic region. Good luck to the few longterm faithful holders left holding G's tattered paper, I wish you well.

You might say that's the cost of doing business in volatile regions of the world and by that I mean Kurdistan whose latest wheeze was to rip up a ground braking gas development agreement signed 3 years ago with a British oil producing Co.

Thats life I guess and no doubt Rosneft will pick up the pieces leaving Genel out in the cold. I had a goodly sum invested a few years ago taking a hit at 260'ish, current price 114 down 22 on the news this morning. It happens all over the place, India and who knows where next?

Overnight reports from the Fed Res policy meeting that support for the economy could end this year hit US stocks, so it's red all over the Far East & Pan Pacifica. Mrkts cont to digest covid infections which hit a record high in Japan putting their medical system under pressure. The Nikkei hit by across the board selling, off 200 at lunch is near a 7 month low at 27,388. Only Pharma and drug developers gained.

Falling commodity prices spooked Australian investors who sold out of stocks taking the ASX down over 100 in 2 days though ytd is up 13% one of the best performers. The Taliban will have trouble accessing Afghanistan's Gold reserves of $1•3bn which is housed in the Fed Res Bank of NY. The Taliban are under financial sanctions so will be starved of funds.

Asian mrkts tended higher in early dealings the Nikkei up 206 reversing 4 days of losses. Defensive and Pharma were sought as a hedge against covid and lockdowns crimping consumer spending in Japan.
Overnight weak retail sales in July knocked US stocks the DJ losing 282 and the 500 off 32 after posting its 49th record daily close for the year yesterday. HK is up after losing 920 in the last 4 sessions and Taiwan is just ahead after 9 straight losing days. Australia is flat holding above the 7500 level.

Gold rose following weak retail and home building sales in the US and have yet to price in the Afghan situation. Oils were steady despite uneven US economic data and a stronger USD.

Investors refuse to chase stocks higher as the Japanese Govt announce further lockdown measures in 7 more Prefectures as it struggles to contain the Delta variant. Infections rose nearly 3000 yesterday following 8000 on Friday.
The Nikkei had been 250 ahead in early dealings but has turned down 5 at 1:00pm JST. Other Exchanges are lower across the region as Kabul, Covid-19 and weak economic activity nos for July in China remain top of investors concerns.

Stocks in Asia are lower led by Tokyo where the 225 is off some 500 (2%) on concerns about the impact of the collapse of Kabul where 300,000 Afghan soldiers caved in to the Taliban. Delta worries (17,800 new cases) and the University of Michigan consumer sentiment nos coming in at their lowest since 2011 have kept investors sidelined.
Other bourses have taken their cue from Japan HK down 213, Taiwan off 183 & Australia off 33 as covid worries re-surface. Shanghai bucks the trend 13 ahead at lunch. KL & Singapore are both in the red while SK and the Thai mrkt are closed.

Oils are at a 7 wk low on weak demand and the USD/Yen 109•455, the USD/Yuan 6•47. Gold is steady at $1779.

I don't think the ss.Panthera is a deserted ship star 76 but I don't have anything constructive to say about the RNS. Drilling finished, big deal let's see what the assay results show, that will be the proof in the pudding.... or not.

Asian mrkts are lower today following a seesaw session on the Street closing up 15 having been 132 lower overnight. Tokyo struggles for momentum (+28) after reporting nearly 500 new cases of the virus with 30 other cities facing lockdown restrictions. HK, Seoul, Taipei, Jakarta and Singapore are all lower. Sydney is ahead at an intraday record for the 7th straight session heading to the close.

Gold ticked up in early trades but a wait & see mrkt prevails. Oils fell as the IEA cut its global forecast by 100,000 bopd to 5•3m b/d for this year and the USD/JPY was steady at 110•40.

Far Eastern exchanges are quiet following US CPI nos slowing in July with core inflation rising (0•5%) m-o-m, less than expected over last year. Economists think the Fed are in no hurry to tighten policy which boosted the 30 and 500, both hitting record closes. Australia backed off from recent record daily highs due to profit taking and concerns about the spike of infections in NSW.

US CPI nos due later today kept Asian currencies on hold and Gold was little changed but could weaken on a stronger USD & higher t/bill yields if the CPI nos rise. Oils were better on cont expected demand.

Stocks in Asia are broadly higher following the Dow closing at another record. In Australia the ASX200 is hitting fresh highs for the 6th straight session, trading above 7600 in pm trade.

Financials and blue chips pushed the ASX200 up 38 to an all-time high in early deals, since backed off to trade up 6. The Nikkei, Hang Seng are trending higher while Shanghai is off a touch. Mixed signals from Pan Pacifica, Singapore up 20 and Jakarta down 57.

The Delta variant remains a worry in the region as Govts struggle to contain the spread. Seoul reported 1539 new cases, Thailand c.20,000, Vietnam 5149, China 143 & Australia 383. To date Global infections run at 204•133m with 4•316m fatalities (2%). In the UK 6•1m cases, 130,357 deaths (2•14%).

Wall's record close on the S&P and Nsdq following better than expected non farm payroll nos increasing by 943k has boosted sentiment on Far Eastern exchanges which have opened cautiously. Into pm trading HK is ahead 245, Shanghai gaining 32, the Nikkei is closed.
Australia is in upbeat mood extending Fridays record close as the Govt races to boost vaccine doses. Gold futures tumbled to $1677 on Sunday evening following Fridays sell off before recovering to $1722. Copper and Silver are both easier.

Just for info B/Bulls have turned positive on PAT likely as a result of the Cairn/India news and have put out a BUY recommend.
I imagine it's aimed at traders mostly, nevertheless anything that drums up business and awareness about PAT is all good.
