It's very much Summertime Blues on stock vols and sp's atm and the 'pinging' everyone seems to be bedevilled with is an irritant we could do without. I had a negative test and 4 days later was pinged and told to self isolate! My local ICELAND supermarket is on the verge of closing due to the outbreak of pingmania.

Stocks & currencies across Asia and the Pan Pacifics are tumbling this morning led lower by negative cues from Wall on Friday. Tokyo is off 420, HK down 521 & Shanghai 13 lower.
The continued spike in covid variants in Japan is spooking investors who need no excuse to sell as the 225 hovers above its 200DMA. Public support for the PM, the worsening health crisis and the Olympic shambles threaten his reelection this year.

Sydney has closed all building sites and non essential retail businesses extending the strict lockdown into the 4th week. Melbourne is under similar restrictions. The ASX is down 58 after 100, led lower by mining, construction and energy.

Only one day this wk buys have outpaced sells (Tue). Investors & traders have taken profits at 17. They seem pretty confident that any RNS news won't budge the shares upwards, to date they are right as the stock has fallen 11% this week on much reduced volume and trades.
Today could see more selling as "who'd want to be holding these over the weekend" as some wag once said.

We'll see if 15 is a floor or the sp has further to fall. I have settled my leveraged buys which leaves me potless to add if sub 15 comes today.

Stocks are mixed across Asia following Fed Chair Powells dovish comments to Congress. TK is heading South on profit taking and the increasing new wave of covid infections in the capital. HK is up near 300 extending its recent gains with Shanghai off 7 points. Australia is down 7 on financials & energies being sold but South Korea is ahead a touch despite covid nos at record levels.

Japans export driven manufacturing business confidence hit a 2 yr high due to global demand yet the Service Sector was on the floor thanx to the Covid crisis. The BOJ is expected to slash years growth forecasts. Profit taking hit the 225 knocking 260 points off at open despite a better Wall. US consumer inflation rising at the fastest rate in 13 years also dampened sentiment. HK & SH were both lower in sympathy. .Miners led the ASX 200 higher towards close with other Pan Pacifics all in the red.

Stocks rose in Asia in first dealings the Nikkei bouncing back over 200 with the broad based Topix at a near one month high awaiting Q2 earning numbers. Growth and value stocks led the mrkt. HK & SH were both ahead tracking gains from Wall St. Sydney trades just short of an all time high preferring to react to Sp gains than virus spikes, the ASX up 16 (7349) at lunch.

Stocks in Asia have rebounded despite the poor US mrkt nos on Friday. The 3 major bourses are well ahead on local factors, TK up 602, HK +185 but well down on Friday & Shanghai adding 33, only KL is losing money. London is forecast to open lower.

For a bit of context, PAT is up 32% since June 8th, not so good ytd, so understandably pis will take profits, trim holdings or move on. In the past I have done precisely that when I have another stock lined up, but atm I don't and being in cash does not appeal. I mean i don't have a £100k to worry about so I have nailed my colours to the ss PAT's masthead and will sink or swim with her.
As a matter of interest pre my PAT stock choice I was a coin flip away of going with CHF at 12, current 11. Got that one right for a bloody change!

As on most BBs there are differences of opinion, PAT is no different and I welcome the bull and bear variances.
I have absolutely no idea as to what ultimately might be our Gold quantity or the price of Gold 6 months or a year ahead. Estimating is simply that. I stay away from forecasting having had disappointing results in the past, so until the JORC etc, I'm hoping for c.25 on bandwagon jumpers, thereafter its in the lap of the Gods and I hope the good Lord will smile upon us.

Shares in Tokyo slumped 700 from the bell mostly on poor Wall St numbers overnight and Olympic worries which is heading for disaster as the public will be excluded from venues in lockdown areas. The slow pace of vaccinations and increasing Delta variant is keeping consumer spending on a tight rein in many Tokyo prefectures still under lockdown restrictions. HK is up (125) on an oversold mrkt which has lost 2100 over the last 8 sessions. Shanghai is down 25 as factory gate prices and cost of raw materials increase.

Pan Pacifics are mixed with Sydney worst hit down 100 points on a cluster of the highly infectious Delta variant spiking in New South Wales Australia's most populus State. Miners led the sell off on iron ore prices slipping along with Techs & Banks.

While not in sportys league, he's Premiership, I'm Southern conference when it comes to buying power but i console myself our % gains will be the same. To this end I found a few quid and added some more taking me near a 3 fig holding. Never thought I would invest c.£15k here 3 months ago, so what was an initial punt has become more a core holding on resource prospects, equivalent Miners numbers and a good deal of hopium.

As I try and update the days trading nos it necessitates me to be watching the trading volumes, buy and sell, where I can determine as some of the prices fall mid spread and its a judgement call, sell or buy? Its boring I can tell you, but heh I'm kinda interested in the boring stuff. I have been accused of sp watching, so that's the reason why I do so. If anyone else wants to take over from me, please do!

It ain't that important for sure but can be a pointer to investor sentiment which is important. Anyways, today is panning out at another 1m trading day taking volumes this week to near 5,000,000. With a bit of luck we should hold on to the gains or better still improve.

Well mickey1122 your an uberbull and nowt wrong with that. I'm a tad more cautious than you but on evidence I have been reading we are in bargain basement territory. Here's hoping the momentum since 14 will see the shares motoring higher into Q3/4.

The vols and deals have built up considerably yesterday and today with c.300 bargains dealt and trades to date approaching 4•5m. Shares responded by rising 4•60 or 37% from Mondays open.

I doubt at the close of business on Friday anyone imagined this response considering we have had no RNS updates to boost the shares, its been volume and hopium driven albeit with a good deal of resource evidence from S-T and others. The word is spreading! Assuming the jobbers have a level book the rest of the day looks to be ending on a quiet note with day traders clearing their positions.
