US 3Q GDP came in at 2•9% however 7 in 10 economists think the US will sink into recession next year as the country faces headwinds of higher int rates, inflation, ending of stimulus packages, rising unemployment and weak export markets.

Analysts forecast a median of just 0•3% GDP in 2023 as consumer spending comes under pressure. Bulls are of the opinion that a soft landing for the economy is still possible.

Defence spending will most likely rise in real terms so MSi could be insulated as the US Defence budget is c.$1•6tn or 3•0%+ of GDP. The US spends c.12x as much on Defence as we do, so we're ideally placed to service any contract wins which hopefully we will soon be hearing about if recent sp rises have any basis in fact.

I think its unlikely we will hear anything this year but I have some 'readies' for next year. I have always thought this a £7 stock (with a fair wind) so ways to go. But much depends on the Bell family intentions. On the cusp of a considerable revenue uplift nothing must deter the Co from successfully landing contracts that could be the archetype for a shift in the company fortunes for years to come.

Strong gains overnight on the 'Street' boosted Asian stocks today. Upbeat consumer confidence data and solid earnings from Nike & FedEx pleased investors. US 3Q GDP nos came in at 2•9% due to an increase in consumer spending and exports up from (-0•6%) last month.

Gold and oils were steady reacting to news that the US economy could skirt a hard landing / recession next year according to Goldman Sachs analysts. However consensus was 7 in 10 think the US will sink into a recession in 2023.

I do like to see short term holders take their money and move on, it keeps liquidity flowing if nothing else. I wouldn't worry too much about the sp falling its all in a days work and a chance to add lower down if your persuaded.

As ever I focus on the long'term, I can't be bothering about daily sp moves which are meaningless as far as I'm concerned. Let the day traders have their fun and bemoan the sp in 6 months time.

With the shares trading at c.500 that's a huge 178 rise m-t-d (55%). Azurite I'd like to know of the 'good reason' for the rise you alluded to yesterday.

Trimmed a few as the lack of info is becoming a serious problem for investors. I think its outrageous that holders are buying and selling in the dark so to speak. Unfortunately no use talking to the LSE as they are probably readying their response to Vodafone surging •5p to catch the DailyMail mrkt report tomorrow.
I tried the MSi investors landline but....you guessed it.

I will trim some more if I as i expect the shares turn lower. Whatever is causing the bubble needs to be pricked and soon.

I think why the rise from 340? Best guess a) nobody knows b) nobody gaf.
As long as the mrkt is kept in the dark the better for holders. Best be ready for a very swift exit if your of a nervous disposition. Shares that go up this swiftly usually have a story to tell.
I'm still surprised the Co seem as bewildered as the rest of us, or they are playing plain dumb...

In the final week of trading this year the hawkish tone of Central Bankers cont to fuel concerns about the global economy and losses across SEAC are keeping investors on the back foot this morning.

In Tokyo the benchmark Nikkei
225 closed the morning session 308 lower led by Motors and Tech closing out the session 289 points down. A choppy session saw the ASX slip 14 led by weakness in Tech & Financials partly offset by gains in Gold Miners and Material stocks.

In China the SHCOMP slid c.2% on widespread selling among properties with some resistance among Banks & Financials. Currently down 65 points an hour from closing.

Must admit I'm not as bullish as you regarding a great year for Panthera, mostly on the basis that WA gold is in the dumps and recessionary fears could be much worse than mrkts think.

Even if we get a result in India the mrkt will mark us down on "they'll never get paid" and investors will face years of "go and do one" so hardly an attractive scenario. Of course the opposite might well turn out to favour investors of a more bullish attitude.

So, wer'e down to a heads you win tails I lose situation. Thus my hopes for Panthera are pretty much zero given the time frame seems to be getting longer and longer. Whatever the 'game changer' turns out to be we bloody well need one NOW!

Seems the recent rally in MSi was more hot air than Yorkshire pudding. Has to be said selling has been light just 8391 traded yesterday (14% sells) which looks overdone and presents a buying opportunity for the long'term patient investor.

I will add if the stock continues to weaken into the New Year or before if 400 is breached. At that price a P/e of c.10x is a no brainer. Not sure but any US news that is mrkt value / price specific might have to be issued when the US mrkt opens.

Stocks picked up a couple of hundred points at the close having slumped over 750, one of the bigest % drops in weeks on widespread selling. It's now thought rates will stay higher for longer as new data heightened recessionary fears.

The Santa Rally which has a 70% win average since 1950 of finishing higher in the last week of December now looks like being a Santa spoiler, unless retail come out in force as most iis have squared away their positions.

It will be a surprise if Santa matches last years rise as January is usually a particularly strong stretch on the S&P having 43 UP years & 29 Down years since 1950. However 2022 let the averages down the Dow off 1453 by Jan close.
