If you follow Eric Topol on twitter he gos into great detail on how poor the trial data was and how the FDA are no longer credible and have lost public trust.

This announcement was purely political to try and help Trumps campaign but with the entire academic community up in arms is going to backfire.

The summer months provide some help in reducing Covids impact but autumn/winter is coming and with it common colds and flu. Im sure everyone knows by now what Covid-19 does to the bodies immune system and how combined with flu or even a common cold we are going to get many very sick people. People with covid and flu especially in the at risk population are highly likely to be hospitalised.

The NHS, leading Academics, Cabinet Office are all predicting a terrible winter ahead. Heck most people saw the leaked memo from the CO showing the doomsday scenario!

This 'lul' or 'petering out' is just temporary.

What they really need is an effective treatment that helps treat both covid and other types of virus like the common cold/flu in 1 go. Will there be a preventative treatment we can give to at risk groups early to help prevent the NHS being overwhelmed?

If you hear of any drugs out there let me know as I would love to invest.

I have been criticized for remarks I made Sunday night about the benefits of convalescent plasma. The criticism is entirely justified. What I should have said better is that the data show a relative risk reduction not an absolute risk reduction.

Its just gone blue again on low volume trades ;/

If you look at the trades so far this week it is clear most are retail traders. The purchase/sell amounts are very small on average.

Today the average trade size is 1500 shares at £3000.

This reaffirms what Synairgen told us of nothing to worry about just silly retail traders flapping.

Trump pressured the FDA to give EUA of plasma on a weaker set of data. Why wouldn't the same pressure be applied on another drug?

On 04 August the Rebif P3 trial started the initial results are due in 1st week of September. This coincides with our COPD timeline. I personally think Interferon will be high on the agenda and another EUA for IFN-B will occur on the premise the P3 trials continue.

Trump, FDA and CDC have gone nuts. First a dodgy plasma theraputic that is based on a poor data study and now less testing no doub tto make it look like there are less cases of Covid-19.

That should say doesn't survive the peer review :)

Thread has degenerated today so here is some more reaction to Trumps plasma announcement yesterday for some interesting reading.

The FDA used Mayo Clinic’s single-arm / non-randomized / non-placebo controlled observational study to give EUA to plasma. Have a read through how embarrassing this is. Many predict the Mayo's crude mortality analysis survives peer review.

I expected a 10% pullback today but near 20% :)

Interestingly the biggest size trades reported today (so far) were only 20k in size.

Considering last week we had repeat 600k buys and a million quid buy. Bit odd.

Id estimate toward the end of September once kids have been back for 3-4 weeks in school we will see a rise in cases and the 2nd wave.

Many reports show kids are the biggest carriers of the virus but generally are asymptomatic so will likely pass it on to older people.

With Trumps news yesterday and no Monday morning RNS gave perfect opportunity for MM's to drop SP by 10%.

The plasma news has no negative impact what so ever on SNG. If anything its a positive as it shows how desperate governments are for a therapy and how low the standards are for FDA to give EUA.

Outrage and shock across USA in academic/medical circles at how the FDA has approved plasma. People are now questioning the ethics of Dr Hahn who made the outrageous claim of 35% reduced mortaility.

When you look at the quality of trial data its amazing how this got approved. Even more so how head of FDA could stand at the podium and claim 35%.

Real worry that confidence in FDA has been lost and people will not trust taking any vaccine approved by them.

Expect huge fallout over this in coming week. Fascinating to watch a direct fight between the scientists and government.

No surprises the board rejected the 'offer' so JB will sell off his shares to zero and try and force a vote.
