In business you only pay for something if you actually receive something in return. Paying £39 billion to persuade the EU simply to talk about a future trade deal is a terrible idea; no competent business person would ever entertain such a concept. Investing that huge sum of money into our country would be a shot in the arm to our public services, businesses and exports and education and training, helping more people into higher-paying job

Yes indeed. TM is out of time. She should be bold ( may, might phps) and declare that all HER best endeavours have been ignored and that she will put all the Govt's efforts into best management of the transition into WTO scenario.

Whatever her lily-livered, career-calculating MPs might say, she has convincingly lost the battle for hearts and minds. To call Mrs May a lame duck would be a gross insult to the disabled aquatic fowl community. That duck is no more, it has ceased to be.
As for those craven MPs who voted to support the unsupportable in pursuit of the unachievable, I have a message. We are the Conservative and Unionist Party of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, proud men and women, and we will have our vengeance in this vote or the next.

The is/has been an underlying thread that the current impasse has unduly affected LLoy SP. Some agree - some do not. Political tinkering by BOE, CBI and those ardent remoaners has not helped the SP of the biggest and most profitable UK bank. The SP is at a silly point and the result is that comments end up on this board.

If the Gov had continued as it started out -to follow the result of the referendum - and look to working out arrangements for leaving - who knows - but May decided she wanted a deal - her deal. We have no trade deals but she wants MPs to sign up to the withdrawal agreement with its constrictive clauses tying us to EU rules potentially for ever.

Do you not think that such important matters are not a matter for discussion on this BB?

Simply put. Simple to understand. Why do so many think the EU is the bees knees? Surely it is not possible that so many - incl on this board - are unable to see that the EU is amoral?

As you say - but do you really believe that the EU is the utopian society you want - an org that sets its own rules (democracy?) and sod you all. JC is lost in the wilderness of sitting on the fence - and should he get off it and make a decision then we can applaud /criticise that. But until then?

How can anyone say the Labour party is anything but disingenuous when its manifesto said we support the decision of the referendum - then say we want a customs union . How can Dismay have any credibility when she makes so many false declarations and insists she is the deliverer of the referendum vote.
