Saga currently has 2 cruise ships. The decision to acquire the third was - in my view - sensible because refits etc mean Saga will have to place else where. In the last accounts I believe there was �5 ml loss because one of the two needed work done. As I said below - this is a managed risk business with a few frills thrown in to woo the over 50s. Yes Saga has 2 ships - will be 3 2019 but that is not the crux of the business. Balance sheet debt appears very reasonable to me - less than �500ml -many many companies in a much more precarious situation. I don't think Saga wants to be the Carnival of the future. I believe it operates on margins - look at its new underwriting with Re. So long as it retains its customer base it is easy profit. All investments are with risk and those apparently without risk can have their SP slashed by MMs triggering Stop Losses for PIs. Please don't call me a fool! That immediately suggests that you have no comprehensive knowledge of the rules relating to auditing and accounting. Should you have particular knowledge then you can disclose it to the relevant regulatory body. I would say that there areas you need to wise up on. Constructive comment is helpful.

I can only think that you are misguided.

As I said - you depreciate or amortise the goodwill on your balance sheet as circumstance require. Auditors will only sign off on the carrying value if this can be justified. You may think that you know better than the Auditing body for Carillion - then you really are a super star. I don't make the judgement calls. Those who sign off the accounts do.
