James has answered with some fair points. Regionally, where they are based on the coast, a company can get away with not spending too much of the recruitment process, i.e. advertising, using an agency etc because of word of mouth and he states they have a good potential talent pool nearby with Cisco, IBM and the University within 10 miles.
You will always get a better calibre of candidate by widening your job advert exposure however and also some of these recent vacancies I believe are national.
To say they are shelling out 225k is alittle misleading, as you don't pay an annual salary upfront do you. And they have to go through the process and make appointments (to state the obvious).
