I agree with the posts and that EA would trial the tech in smaller games, which we have seen already BUT ultimately they have hungry shareholders and will be under pressure to create more revenue YoY, just like any other listed company. EA is driven by profits and revenue. You might have said why would they risk introducing loot boxes at the time when that concept was new. Native in game ads being unobtrusive to the gamer also, I think you might see an avalanche effect, with every game publisher wanting a piece of the action.
Everybody wins with bids offering, the gamer (not faced with pop up or video reward ads, get the game for free or cheaper), the studio, bids and the brands getting exposure to previously hard to reach demographics.
With something like FIFA, all eyes on if EA announce a channel on Amazons new LUNA platform. IMO much more likely to see ads in FIFA (on Volta or other game modes outside the official sponsors) or any other EA game, if the gamer is paying £5.99 subscription, rather than £50 for an individual game on the PS or Xbox.
