Metro Bank has suffered a huge loss as it prepares for a slump in house prices and surging unemployment.
The high street lender - which is fighting to revive its fortunes following a loans scandal last year - fell £241m into the red for the six months to June down from a £3.4m profit a year earlier.

Neil, if the bod are confident of a turnaround then I would like to see enormous buys by the directors, that's a better signal IMO. Chilting your reference to Debenhams is a warning to all, and the view you express is spot on IMO. I would like to hear that they have a partnership going with a youngish innovative firm of architects looking at how they can repurpose some of the store space e.g. into flats and maybe some form of covered market selling goods that don't compete with the MKS product lines. It seems to me that say an upper floor could be used to develop a Travelodge(alternatives available). My concern is that MKS could be left with the costs of closed stores and so impacting the bottom line. JJ

Not the moment for share buy back, hold cash to implement the essential changes. JJ

Having bought at .37 I would be more relaxed to see it at .40 and continue to hold. Seen it trade today at .35 so all positive in the meantime. GLA

JT, your updates interest me and add to my confusion. In simple terms the buys are more than the sells but the share price has dropped, which seems to contradict the law of economics i.e. more demand causes the price to rise. Can you help? Anyone? JJ

Decent article in the Observer today showing that the media is paying attention to what the Ocado switch to MKS will mean to shoppers. Also separate discussion about how online grocery shopping numbers are increasing and an essential to deal with local quarantines. The picture for the Ocado delivery of MKS products is improving daily in the lead up to launch, it must improve the strength of MKS share price IMO

LCR, NOV, Theo I think you largely agree with each other which is refreshing because you are not suggesting MTRO will make anyone rich soon, or even allow those who bought at 200p+ to break even anytime soon. I wish others were listening but they are like the brass monkey with hands over his ears. JJ

What about the Telegraph review today of the DBX, that's got to be worth a few p on the share price IMO. JJ

Looking back over last 5 years the chart does not support this statement. Happy to see positive posts but is it misleading? JJ
