I think I read on Norges website a while back that they can't take more than a 10% stake in a company, so not sure anything can happen there.
Merry Christmas all. This year has been pretty tough for a lot of us, but (hopefully) we still have our health and families.
Enjoy the Christmas period and hopefully 2020 is a much better year for us all!
Modsto, fair comment but Bellers has summed up my current attitude. I always had a set number of shares I wanted to own in sxx and hit that number in late July. In reaching that goal I’d over stretched myself (learning curve) and after the initial issues in August decided I needed to reevaluate. And made the decision to sell.
Now SXX only represents a small portion of my assets, compared to 4-5 months ago, and unless it grows significantly (hopefully) will continue to become less relevant to that figure, each passing month. Happy to hold my figure stress free for now, with the plan of probably trimming 10% of my shares off the top at 10p and the same at probably every subsequent 10p rise thereafter (should it happen).
Hey folks, it's been a while. The August/September drops on top of other stresses (becoming a dad, feeling i needed to buy a house desperately, work etc), caused me to panic sell a fair bit of my holding at 10p and the rest after the crash at 5.5p (except 30k shares in my SIPP).
Since then, I've built up a much larger cash holding than I've ever had, which has done wonders for my general mental health and yesterday bought back in when it was 4%ish down. I managed to buy back my same holding for £2.8k less than I sold, so feeling pretty happy with myself and have pocketed the difference for now for a rainy day.
Because of this I feel a LOT less exposed than I once did, even though sitting on pretty large losses (which i've mentally wrote off in my head). Here's to a long hold, without the added stress of losing money I can't afford to lose.
Where are you getting that bigtibbs? Shorttracker last update the 10th, HBK down 0.10%
Cheers tuckupp I think we could have predicted that SP finish from about 3pm
Morning RoosterOfMembersStreet
Bluelight, they get paid £45 an article to write for MF, which says it all. Our interns get paid more to write articles for our company blog!
Thanks PAAA. They’re sweet peppers rather than chilli. The one from the GC is one of the small ball peppers (think stuffed with goats cheese) . The others (with no fruits atm) are doux tres long des landes and is in a 45cm pot. May need to write them off this year and hope for the best.
Would be good to over winter if possible, however I Tried to over winter some birds eye chillis last year which I grew from seed from shop bought ones, I cut them right back but the died regardless.
Slightly off topic, but you are the resident gardener!! I have some pepper plants (one which I bought reduced in a garden centre a couple of weeks ago with one fruit on) the others I sowed from seed late (June) and have just started to flower.
What are the chances I’ll get fruit now?
Random I know, but googling has come up bare
If the bonds go, I'd be disappointed if it was only sat around 15-20p given that's the level we were before they were pulled.
Nope, because dilution isn't debt and doesn't meet JPM's criteria for fundraising for access to the RCF
I know your pain Bellers. I have probably 15 finance books (intelligent investor, etc) sat on my bookshelf, I really need to put some concentrated effort into pushing through them.
I've recently found (with other books), that I read them best / quickest in the garden, tackling them a chapter at a time, when the material is dry!
Myo - Oh I agree, it's a murky world, and most people wouldn't give the articles a second thought if they knew, but to an inexperienced investor, MF is probably one of the first new sources they will see on any company and probably think they offer reputable insight.
MG85, as mentioned on here a while ago. The writers get paid I think £45 an article to write those. They are essentially opinion pieces that you or I could write and probably get paid for.
I'd take what they say with a pinch of salt!
If it’s the one I saw, it’s just a Fool article packaged as a yahoo finance one. Just remember someone was paid a whole £45 (I think) to write that.
Skilled journalism at its finest!
Ones from 2 days ago, ones from yesterday! So before RNS
Fair point Duracell! I’ve just reread that it’s come from a zero holding previously!
Really not to rain on anyone’s parade, but isn’t it 0.5% owned by them, 4.5% loaned out?
Agreed FFC, a little respect all round wouldn’t go amiss at the moment!
