Old article describing the S-Class’s semi autonomous system as a ‘Drive Pilot upgrade’.
“When the S-Class arrives, which should happen sometime next year, it’ll advance the current model's Distronic Active Proximity Control and Active Steer Assist systems. With the current car expected to achieve Level 2 autonomy with the Drive Pilot upgrade, the next car should arrive with advanced driver-assisted, semi-autonomous driving capabilities.”

If the 2021 SL does indeed get Drive Pilot, then I assume it would be the S-Class’s ‘upgraded’ version, and not outdated technology.
“It will be more driver-focused than cars such as the S-Class Coupé, but there could still be plenty of the brand’s latest driver assist systems drafted in, including its semi-autonomous Drive Pilot function.”

Fair enough chaps. I remain hopeful as JLR are unlikely to want the scrutiny Tesla are experiencing as a result of torque sensing. Equally, they can’t install a semi autonomous system which is inferior to its competitors otherwise they will lose their tech savvy customers. The corrected LATAM post keeps me intrigued as ever.
J-PACE
If SEE are in Jaguar, then why not in their semi autonomous system... like all of JLR’s competitors. Got a good feeling about this one.
“We expect the J-Pace to come with a host of driver-assistance features as standard. An optional semi-autonomous driving mode is also likely, as nearly all of the J-Pace's established rivals offer such a feature at least as an option.”

The XJ will need to have an Autopilot beating system if it’s going to compete with the Model 3 and Polestar.
“According to AutoExpress, Bollore wants to turn Jaguar into a fully-electric company in order for it to compete with the likes of Tesla and Polestar, and key to that plan is a direct rival for the Model 3.”

If the LATAM slip is accurate, could the 2021 Jaguar XJ be a contender to contain SEE tech? It’s Jaguar’s premium offering so makes sense they aspire to pack it full of the latest tech to compete with the S-Class etc. No mention of DMS in the article but the car is going to be an ADAS packing EV which is positive.
“Of course, we expect the electric Jaguar to have an assortment of standard and optional driver-assistance technologies that include adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist.”

I’d imagine it will get the same system as the Grand Wagoneer.
“A head-up display will be optional on the higher trim levels while additional safety technology such as a 360-degree camera, pedestrian detections and semi-autonomous driving capability (likely late availability) will also find their way into the Grand Cherokee.”

Come on FCA, keep up!
“We've even heard rumor of a possible Level 3 driver-assist setup to one-up the hands-free systems offered by General Motors (Super Cruise) and Ford (Active Drive Assist).”

GM EV models will get Super Cruise.
“GM has said in the past that its future EVs would feature its Super Cruise hands-free semi-autonomous technology and we’d be surprised not to see it appear in the two Buick EV crossovers.”

Been mentioned before JC - On page 5 of the below.

Regarding Smarteye, I’ve just looked back through their news feed to the start of 2018. Other than Ambarella, Nuance and Omnivision... ???... who else are Smarteye involved with? I’m assuming if they were linked to any significant Tier 1’s they would have announced it on their website?
There’s a lot of focus on in cabin/driver monitoring, but very little linked to the integration of their tech with semi-autonomous systems.
Presentation mentions DMS.

With 20 EV’s due by 2023, and 22 Super Cruise enabled models by 2023, it could be argued that the new EV’s will all have Super Cruise (otherwise GM would have inter-brand rivalry/competition).
If this is indeed the case, then the trickle through of Super Cruise to all GM brands is proving very rapid with multiple Cadillac’s, Buick’s, GMC’s and Chevrolet’s mentioned in Terry’s article.
In order to remain competitive, I’d expect the same response from Ford, FCA and any other OEM interested in competing in the US.
Going back to fonzoo’s post at the start of this thread - “The driver would still be required to keep his or her eyes forward on the road, and sensors inside the cabin will detect whether the driver is paying attention.”
So we know there is a DMS of sorts in the Levorg... surely with Xilinx, Veoneer and Kev’s post, surely the DMS must be SEE?! Although seeingtom’s post about Kev having worked at Xilinx could explain that connection.
Kevin Tanaka has just commented “You’re welcome. ;-)” - Must be SEE, can’t interpret that any other way.

Apologies for the title but it now seems highly probable that SEE is a key component of the GM, Ford, BMW, Mercedes and FCA semi-autonomous architectures.
Whereas it is not impossible to imagine that multiple suppliers are contracted to provide stand-alone DMS solutions to a single OEM, I do not believe that a system which takes, what appears to be, 4-5 years to bring to the point of production would entertain more than one DMS solution (the system has to offer peak performance so just pick the best DMS).
No wonder SEE’s industry has gone so quiet recently. The realisation that ADAS and DMS, as touted by Colin, is now the near to mid-term future for technological advancement, means that every OEM is now revisiting its model strategies.
Given the long timeframes for development, I see no reason to believe that SEE won’t be involved with other semi-autonomous systems. Does this explain PM’s coyness in his last interview and his keenness to downplay SEE’s chances of monopolising the DMS market?
