“As technology progresses, there is no reason to doubt that tomorrow’s low-end vehicles will have more sensor technology than they do today. We already see cameras and radars becoming standard in Europe and elsewhere, with a trend toward map- ping and driver monitoring continuing to be strong. Such a new basic level of fittings in every vehicle sold will present an opportunity for the vehicle to perceive its surroundings, itself and its occupants.”

This looks like the right chip for SEE software.
“Our TDAx, Jacinto SoC family offers open, scalable solutions based on a common, heterogeneous software and hardware architecture for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) applications including far-field analytics, near-field analytics, and in-cabin sensing functions.”

Exactly red, so, much like Mercedes, BMW, GM, Ford and FCA (probably), Lucid picks the best tried and tested DMS on the market to compete in the US. However, it’s not just safety DMS now, it’s the whole HMI package (as demonstrated in the S-Class). If Audi are potentially still using Smarteye in their Level 3 system, it will be interesting to see what bells and whistles they bring to the A8 in order to compete with S-Class from a technological standpoint...
As a proclaimed competitor to the Tesla Model S, it is not surprising that Lucid are putting so much emphasis on their DMS. Again, it is not a given until a fat lady sings, but with the evidence mounting (Continental, Bosch, Eugene Lee (thanks schlemiel)), there’s a good chance SEE are involved in DreamDrive.
Recommended read - Mentions driver monitoring quite a few time, and guess who helped develop the DreamDrive system...
“Lucid worked with key commercial partners for Lucid DreamDrive’s best-of-breed hardware systems, including Here, Continental, and Bosch. However, the work of integrating these systems into Lucid DreamDrive is conducted entirely in-house.”

I assume our Asia office is working with Honda to help integrate GM’s Super Cruise.
“The GM-Honda relationship, which began more than two decades ago, includes recent collaborations on fuel cells, batteries and the Cruise Origin shared autonomous vehicle, the report said.”

I couldn’t find anything new Terry but it should have level 3 tech (it needs to compete with GM, Ford, et al.).
“Advanced driving assistance technologies rivaling Cadillac’s SuperCruise system are said to be in the works. That means Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities that can control the vehicle on the highway with little to no driver input.”

You could be right red but I’m not sure whether BMW would want to put a lesser system into a newer car (GM are trying to make Super Cruise better as it trickles through all of its models).
Of course, until we know for certain we can only speculate, but if I was an engineer at BMW I would be aiming to use the lessons learned from the iNext to enhance the system for future models.
Redindi, from my research the OEM strategies are simpler than that... install at the first opportunity.
And why... if they don’t, they lose customers to Tesla. DMS offers the laggards an opportunity to catch-up. Not just from a safety perspective, but everything else eye-tracking can offer as well.
SEE is the right company in the right place at the right time.
Last one... 2022 BMW X3.
“It’s expected to come with some new technology on board, especially when it come to autonomous driving and assistance.”

And the 2023 EQE.
“In addition, advanced technologies will give the EQE semi-autonomous functions.”

And the 2022 EQA.
“Available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode.”

The technological trickle down is intensifying.
“The company will also make big advances in autonomous driving technology as it looks to expand Level 3 functionality beyond the upcoming S-Class. An array of new software and hardware – comprising radars, lidars and sensors – could allow the GLC to undertake limited ‘hands off’ self-driving where legislation allows.”
