Thanks Paddy for the article link.
I thought this was a very interesting comment made by Glenn Dyer. "Or two, it raises the prospect that Rio could be interested in buying Newcrest out of Telfer and Havieron if Newmont doesn’t want the assets, and using this as a way to improve the outlook for Winu."
That would be interesting , first of all because GGP have the right under the JVA to purchase the remaining 70% of Havieron (FROR) if NEM/NCM decide not to mine according to the JV agreement, as I believe that to be the case. (Correct me if I am wrong on this, but I don't think I am)
So that leaves the door open for a Rio/Wyloo/GGP combined offer should the price of 70% of Havieron be very high etc for GGP alone?, all depends of course on what valuation is agreed and based upon.
The other dimension of course from what I recall in one of the most recent interviews is the 'Sunset Clause', think it's Apr2024, the date by which a DTM has to be made?? .
Shaun did intimate today in Liam's interview, that he thought NEM would not put Havieron up for sale etc.
Whatever the outcome of a decision to mine Havieron by NEM/NCM is Rio now adds a further dimension/string to GGP's Bow.
