IMO, I think the next stage will be Hybrid's for the next 10 years,followed by a move towards 100 % EV's, but this will not take place until;
1. We have the power generating capacity ( and lets not forget, wind power alone without battery storage on a mass scale will not meet such a demand,
2. I can imagine a scenario of all and sundry trying to recharge their vehicles overnight and then the grid crashes so that when you wake up, no shower, no lights, no toaster :O)
3. Until such time that an average new EV cost, in line with average UK wages is less than £20K , the EV industry will struggle unless heavily subsidised by the UK taxpayer.
