Apart from the obvious review element, it was a step back from the interim results down to 4% ebitda, and also a large row back ( similar to Laura's U turn fetish) on " we intend to generate significant FCC in 25" to we " aim to generate FCF and will guide at FY"

So those are the 3 reasons imo

Anyone know what the previous guidance for underlying profit was before today, and what these expectations have been downgraded to?

Guess that's what the BOD has been saying all along really. They obviously feel that after rectifying whatever writedowns that may need adjusting, and despite a growth setback in q3, 200-240 in good nick is just too low.

Time will tell with probably some extreme volatility along the way.

If memory serves me correctly, without looking at the relevant section way down the HY report, I think goodwill headway had improved at HY, which must be a positive.

Possibly companies should show potential purchasers what they're interested in buying and then haggle / agree a price afterwards.

Like view a house, negotiate in good faith , agree terms after viewing if you get what i mean.

Then assuming no major subsidence issues or planning issues will be uncovered during the legalities etc, much smoother process and less time wasted.

Do you think it's possible / likely that Apollo discovered these potential write downs when the books were opened to them?

It just seems odd / coincidental that 2 interested parties expressing interest to buy circa 200 give or take, both ended their respective interest for whatever reasons given, after a period of looking under the bonnet.

Also I remember thinking how calm the market seemed to be when these huge write downs were announced at HY, didn't seem to ring any alarm bells.
