Was this trading update so bad that it warrants 20% off market cap?

I just don't get this, its as if the company has issued its 3rd profit warning the way the market is reacting, I mean really, what is so catastrophic leading to this ?

Covid hasn't really been an issue the last 4-5 months, bit of dud excuse IMO.

And what they are all forgetting is that since June /July there have been consistently between 100 and 200 deaths per day, which is now considered the norm.
So if there are 25000 deaths over the next 5 months, I would say " so what " , that's life now.
These modellers are so full of scientific s--t, that it's times like this when they sense a weak chink in the armour of politicians, to get into their heads and cause mayhem.

The only thing that gives me Hope right now is how CINE managed to rise to 120 a year after the pandemic started with debt mounting up and not a soul through the doors. Based on our experience the last 6 months you couldn't make that up.
I remember NEX rising 5% the day after it announced it was suspending all services until further notice at the beginning of the year!

These are the same scientists who were predicting 1000 deaths a day 3 months ago, and the same scientists who also told us that you can still transmit Delta even if you're vaccinated.
So what's the difference?
This is all scientist driven by giving goverment frightening scenarios on the worst possible case basis, eg if there is 100000 cases in a day and 1 or 2% need hospital that's 1 - 2 thousand.
But if it is less severe and milder then why would people present to hospital?
Answer probably because they're British paid my taxes and got a right to access the NHS.
Do people go to hospital for flu? Course not, so unless you're struggling to breathe and need ICU / oxygen why would you go to b---y hospital.
It's like British people call 999 and report that they're feeling unwell after tonight's takeaway, or the neighbour stole my milk.
Sorry I sound so cynical but it's becoming a joke now. Government and especially Sturgeon, and the media are acting like this is the plague!
Maybe it is and it will kill us all eventually.

I hate to say this but listening to Michael Gove just now having come out of a cobra meeting with the devolved nations, he described the new facts as v challenging and requiring action, so I wouldn't be surprised if stricter measures are announced this weekend, just my gut feeling.

The NHS is always stretched, before covid, in Covid, maybe the health care service needs to be privatised like it is in the US, or maybe if its so bad go work in the private sector, become a locum if you're not already, I'm sick of hearing it myself, why were the nightingales ever constructed and not used in these situations, surely the goverment woukd know that they could be staffed or not.
Imagine if they were operational purely for covid, problem sorted, let's get on with life. Even the S Africans are referring to it as flu (Omicron).

Even if cases are mild, a small % of much larger number of infections will overwhelm the NHS.

Any excuse for the NHS / SAGE to pipe up and cause a stir, they're now warning that even with a milder disease the NHS will be stretched, and because of this more stringent measures are needed.

Meanwhile in S Africa they're not even bothered, they call it flu, they knowcits mind and they will recover, the doctors at the covid assessment wards say that there are much fewer people coming in with severe covid than in previous waves, finally reported on sky just now.
So for God's sake, is this going to happen everytime the NHS is under pressure?
The NHS is now being used as a political tool to the delight of the scientists and leading scaremongering sage members.

Heard it all before, in 70s, 60s, 50s and now 40s.
Don't be so sure, might be late fifties next week, might be 30s, definitely not cheap if further restrictions come in from this reactive goverment.

Normally the sp drops on x dividend day but I think it works slightly different on capitalisation and rights to buy, had a similar thing recently with PFC which was more than confusing!!
