This RNS certainly has my speculation juices flowing this morning. Will I wonder the mention of stage 2 be sufficient for some institutional investors to finally put their toe in the water? We want the sticky money to flow in. No doubt that the 10% PI's will be arriving at 8am and money will be made but we want the more sophisticated LTH's to join the party now and this has multi bag written all over it in time.....and that time line is getting smaller in my opinion.

Extract from GGP RNS
Newcrest will complete Phase 1 drilling in September and commence Phase 2 of the Havieron exploration programme which includes plans to significantly increase the amount of both step out and infill drilling.
I didn't see reference in the NC RNS but it is clear in GGP's, - Phase 2 will commence if it was in any doubt!

This looks to be an unusual RNS for NC in that it is outside of it usual quarterly update. I can not help but wonder but wonder what the driving force was behind this - i.e. for whose primary benefit. I am delighted with the results and the clear message to the markets that they are further increasing the pace with an rig in September and further rig(s) Q2 20 ..... I wonder though whether there will be additional good news of some kind soon that explains the timing of this update. Great day ahead ..... or should be ...the AIM caveat always has to be considered!

Apart from Christmas times this company rarely exceeds 20 days before issuing an RNS of some form of other. Past performance does not guarantee etc etc but I am personally expecting news of some sort within the next 2 weeks on this basis ..... apologies for slipping into conjecture!

I can not help but think that results would have to be off the charts for NC to make an offer before at least end of stage 2 and even then the offer would have to be off the charts as well for the BoD to accept....just my view. I rule out any hostile takeover as going against the corporate grain within NC.

Antigua....I think that people need to recalibrate their definition of regular....regular does not mean frequent...it means a constant or detonate pattern....quarterly updates exactly meet that definition.

Antigua - i suspect the detail of the JV makes this very much an NC project now - we are totally in their hands unless the decide to walk away - NOT something I hasten to add I think will happen. As has been said often on this BB - this is a major project for NC and the amount that they have committed over a number of phases - each needing to prove the viability of proceeding to the next, underpins their resolve. I can only imagine the internal due diligence that would have taken place within this world class gold mining giant, to have obtained main board approval to proceed. I am good with it personally and of course we have a number of projects proceeding that are very much in GGP's control. News will be delivered when it is ready. Remember GH is now playing on a world stage where all eyes are on this region and he has upped his game on the communication front several times over imo.

Volvic - short answer is yes we are. Everyone just needs to manage their own expectations as to when. So many people want it all and want it now - this is gold exploration and it just takes time - but that's ok - good things are worth waiting for.

I know that it is often repeated on these boards - but wouldn't it be great if we could trust the trade information as to whether they are buys and sells! In any event I am loving the SP movement today - people are starting to take notice and act.

Interesting to see FTSE 100 up ....suspect because they have a more global presence than the FTSE 250 which is down.

Today,s political news in theory should not impact ggp given future potential earning will not be in sterling but then when do the markets act logically!
There is comment about this stock being speculative and of course it is.....it is gold exploration!! I do take great comfort though from the experts from Newcrest willing to put millions on the line to find out......I will leave it to these experts rather than some of the postering being written here recently.

Makes an interesting read and insights into NC,s approach on many levels...financial...block cave design time frame etc. Perhaps a blue print for Haverion?

I agree with your underlying sentiment and thoughts in that case Mayoman. Today,s news is another building block though and a significant one given the scale of planned works. Oh the doorstep of Telfer the BoD are looking to catch and ride the wave all the way into shore.

Mayoman. Good news because this is a gold exploration company. It takes time. This is not a get rich quick play but in my view it is a get very rich play given time.
