RE: GGP progression under SD leadership23 Nov 2021 11:46
A very general observation and one promoted by just listening to a radio programme on technology and the double edged sword of progress and speed. The commentary reflected on how wonderful it was to be able to communicate instantly to anyone and anywhere but then also reflected on for example as trains got faster, in history, the feelings of frustration associated with delays worsened.
I can see parallels of course in the modern day financial world. Given the right applications it is possible to watch live trade prices and our sense of time is distorted. In days gone by we used to have teletext for maybe the Footsie 250 and before that I certainly had one job whereby I had to carry out portfolio revaluations with the benefit of the Financial Times.
So today we our lust for instant gratification for knowledge as well as financial rewards it is easy to forget the big picture and certainly in mining exploration, there are limitations to the speed of change, from supply chains to infrastructure and rig availability, to the heat in the Australian outback and don't forget the 400m+ of cover above the ore body. Easy to sit here and type about what others should be doing isn't it? We can lift the lid of the lap top and knock out a few paragraphs in minutes. Bit different at the drill bit end of the business.
My thanks to the drill crews and GGP management team that continue to improve the geological understanding day by day, metre by metre towards we hope, extraction. If the temperature is getting too hot here for you for the moment because of SP movements, I recommend putting the lid of the laptop down but don't worry, the crews will be still hard at it in the Patterson on our behalf.
