At the agm GH gave me the v strong impression that he could see a situation where he is going to get tomorrow’s value today and it will happen this year.

In many ways I hope that NC do make a bid, then I wouldn’t have to agonise over what to do at every twitch in the share price!!!

KB, I dont have as many shares as you and your family (about half I think) but still have plenty. So I hope that you are right and I am talking nonsense. I think we will know by the end of the year.

Thats quite funny KB. My worry is that you might think that true! Solgold has a market cap of £382myn. Can you think of any company that has had a hostile bid at many multiples of the current mkt cap? I cant.
In an agreed deal, NM might squeeze a billion out of BHP, but is (at a guess) less than 3months free cash flow to BHP. 52p.
In the absence of any reason not to, I would vote for that.

What people say and do are often different, especially when a bit of 'folding' is put on the table. NC would sign up if they had a piece of the action. As would CGP, cos they need the money. NM and DGR might not at first but he will know the game is up when he has a hostile BHP as the largest s/holder.
Just a theory though.........and one that suits me!

I am v impressed by todays price action. Was sort of expecting a bit of a correction today and thought shares might retrace all the way back to 250, but persistent and substantial buying has been a pleasant surprise. A bit of consolidation at these levels will, I think, be really good for long term future as should provide a base should any further pull backs come about.
Not traded since Friday but the gains and losses are of the numbers I used to get when I was doing this for a living! My old boss would be impressed, if not 'er indoors.....

Something occurred to me on the dog walk, probably not original. NC have a seat on the board so get all the management accounts and CEO updates and are always possessing privileged information.
BHP were offered a seat on the board but have in effect declined as they havent taken up the offer. So they will only have any information that NM decides to share with them. If we are anything to go, probably not much.
Which leads me to the conclusion that once the 2 yr no bid agreement lapses BHP will bid for Solgold, with or w/o NC and the price will be about 40% more than this summers VWAP.
This tallies with what other mkt commentators/brokers are saying. So Solgold will be history, unless NM can do a deal for just Alpala. Which means that NM needs to get the sp up a lot, probably in the 2nd qtr. Thats my theory. All imho of course!!

JC, Mickey and others. How the hell can NC buy 1 share in GGP when they are in possession of shedloads of non public, price sensitive information?
For them to be involved they would have to release every single drill result they have plus all and any other information they might have pertaining to the value of GGP.
It could happen on Wednesday night but I would put the chances at slightly less me supporting Man U in a game of tiddly winks.

That’s the one thing I am having trouble getting my head around - this 5% at fair value. Fv for ggp is not the same as fv for NC. They could be quite different numbers. NC can say that as they own telfer they should get all the benefits of a processing plant nearby. Whereas ggp can say that as you own telfer, my 5% is worth more to you.
Not sure arbitrates this.

JC, you had better tell that to the person doing the fair value calc for the 5%! Might get us $300 an oz!

Merc, you and I have same views on targets. But obviously everything must be constantly reviewed in light of new news. My sell levels could be buy levels and vice versa.

It might have crept over the magic number now, which of course is a bit frightening, but about 5myn were bought since the breakout through 2.10., and the price has almost doubled.
It will be really interesting to see what the price action is like over next two days as we lead up to the NC announcement. This move has all been about catching up to the news of last six months, imho. Its not about any perception of this weeks news. I expect it to be a continuation of the good news but not 50% better than previous news, just cos price has run ahead. Happy to be wrong though, as long as it’s to the upside.
Nowhere near my first sales level. Just hope I can stay the course.

With the volume today, we must have said goodbye to quite a few impatient st investors and hello to some new ones of whatever persuasion. It would be nice to get some HNW or LT or instos on board. I spoke with one G&S fund and they generally dont touch companies with mkt cap much below £1billion, which rules us out, at least for this week....
Maybe we will get some notifications about new holders over the next few weeks.
