Kempey, with respect I think Sandeep really needs to big this up this time. Last quarters results werent all that flash with two separate production problems and the share price didnt do well on the news. Given that everyone in Aus seems to be talking about Havieron and with rumours of majors running an eye over NC, he needs to get the sp focusing on the exploration side of the business and not the production. Gold price might save his blushes this time. He wont be thinking about how can I stitch up my old mate Gervaise, by talking this down, but more how can I get my sp up to defend the company's independence, or give me a nice pay day.

I think we have found one of the best companies on the uk market. The past is pretty good, the future could be a whole lot better. If you disagree and think that you can find these sort of companies at these sort of valuations just around every corner then slice, switch, trade whatever.
Professional investors run their profits and cut their losses. The amateur PI does the opposite.

Haddad, you are confusing Newmont, an American behemoth, with Newcrest a largish Aussie corp. Newmont walked away after doing some due diligence on the Ernest Giles prospect and Newcrest haven’t walked from anything. Besides the first three letters and the fact that they both mine gold there is no similarity or connection. I think the chances of Newcrest walking away is about as likely as me supporting Man U in any football match!

One other thing Tomscar. Depends how the offer document is worded but the buyer may be happy with simple majority of the targets shares, in which case the target would continue to trade as a stand alone company, albeit controlled by the acquirer. If the acquirer gets to 90% of the targets shares they can compulsory buy in the other 10%, which would be done at the final deal terms. Hope that makes sense.

There has been a persistent rumour that the above could be earlier than originally thought. NC are still showing April 30th on their website. Some of us assumed that the Aussie mkts were shut on Monday after Anzac Day today. But apparently they are open. So if you believe the announcement has been brought forward we could be hearing any time from tomorrow night onwards. Ooh er.

Just wanted to add that GH said that quite a while ago, and a lot of exciting things have happened since then. Maybe he has upped his target in line with events?
