Mercman, I don’t think it’s true to infer that all the info is out in the public domain when the exploration report is released. It’s probably a few weeks out of date already and I expect NC release just what they want to.
So any bid would have to be accompanied by a lot more info than normal.

I will get a very small law firm to look at it too.

OT, if NC steal this from me, I too will put some in NC. It won’t have the same pizazz as ggp but I might get some of the stolen goods back.

It does make this site look rather splendid by comparison.

Don’t know the bloke. But if you get caught deceiving people, don’t be surprised if no one trusts you. He looks after himself. Can’t think of one post where he has been ‘helpful’, compared to many others on this board.

Hi Quady and everyone. No way will BHP have another standstill agreement. Why would they? They are patiently waiting in the wings hoping that not too much happens in next 6 months. NC on the other hand, I think, are wishing they could have their money back and move on.
I can see this getting a lower and lower risk, but I am not sure who is going to be such a large buyer of the shares that they re rate to anywhere near the NPV. How many shares need to be bought to get this to (say) 30p? 300million?

DBW, that is a very impressive statement. I just wonder whether this sort of 'event' would release BHP from their standstill agreement? Otherwise the project would be taken away from them without BHP being able to do anything to stop it.
Maybe they would ask NC to launch a cheeky low ball bid, which would then allow BHP to bid freely....

If you want to show precise calcs please show the fully diluted shares not just shares in issue. Your answer is wrong by 10%. You know it’s wrong. Why do you do it?

All the great investors spend a lot of time.......doing nothing. Buffett, smith, train etc etc
Traders on the other hand make a lot less cos they can’t do nothing.
Someone on here said they are selling when GH sells. What better advice could you have, other than don’t listen to Beetham!

As you two (and many others too) know, mining is a very long term business. The management think generations ahead, not the next quarterly report. Decisions you make today, may not see results in their tenure. I just dont think hostile will happen. One day we will know, but I just dont think NC will screw all their supposed long term relationships for a measly $200million (if thats what it is).

Not sure I follow CB. I define hostile as whether approved or not by management. Would GH approve a deal at say 20p. I doubt it. Then it goes to sh in a vote with no recommendation from the bod, in fact probably a recommendation to reject.
Not saying it wont happen but just dont think NC would try to get away with an unapproved deal, due to what it would do for their chances for the next deal with a junior. Plus GH might just put a call in to Rios/others if NC tried to get away with an unapproved deal. Appreciate your thoughts as always.

How many hostile bids have there been in the mining industry? When was the last one? (Dont include Acacia/Barrick as that is peculiar to Tanzania govt situation which we dont have).

Hi Chester. I am sure I can’t and shouldn’t speak for GH and CB but I am going to have a go! Whilst everyone is conscious of the money angle, these two know what the opportunity is more than anyone here. So I think their price is commensurate with valuing the opportunity. So it won’t be (like it is for some here) a price that buys them a Lamborghini and the wife a new kitchen (as peter alliss once said), but a price that equates a fair value for what they are giving up, be it Hav or the whole lot.
I expect that to be much more than Beethams silly ideas, probably not as much as mickeys. On balance nearer mickeys though!
