Yes they are like a swarm of wasps spoiling a lovely picnic
Shorters and derampers undermine vulnerable fledgling companies. Not only does it weaken and add to the demise of otherwise promising start ups, it costs the country in jobs and investment wealth. Who knows how many potential FTSE 100 companies were pushed over the cliff with the help of greedy self serving detractors before they even got the chance to grow and thrive?
Lol! I was only having a cursory skip through the channels before getting on with my work, honest! :-)
Oh sorry Divermike, I'm a little out of touch with Alba these days. I switched to Groc as I have more faith in the Greenland govt and other industry bodies wanting to help push graphite along asap rather than hinder progress. What did strike me about the QVC offerings were the high prices for pretty low quantities of 9ct gold in the jewellery (during the short time I was able to watch)
Starting right now. 22:00 on QVC. Sorry, I don't have time to watch it....
I dunno, I think it's more organised than the odd vengeful screwball obsessed with bad mouthing what they consider to be the blame for their monetary losses rather than their own poor investment decisions. The Russians and Chinese are well known to be active online in undermining western interests globally so there may be something in that. Otherwise, it's also a known fact that fewer than 1 in 20 minnow companies survive and thrive, so a strategy of shorting is more likely to pay off than going long. Of course there are the occasional multibaggers (hopefully Arcm included) that prove to be the painful fly in the ointment for the shorters.
It would have to be a very very attractive offer as within a couple of years we may find we are sitting on a couple of tier 1 assets (probably worth c. 20p each to the s/p) Having come this far in securing our license areas, beating off spurious legal claims and waiting out the reorganization of the Zambian mining ministry, I doubt the BoD would want to let us go cheaply. But then again I've seen promising assets being given away for a handful of beans on AIM.
Nothing wrong with the actual content of the investor call, the potential for huge share holder value addition is quite obvious. However, it is always tortuous listening to NvS umming and aahhing through a presentation and this time the audio quality was also poor, compounding the problem and giving the overall impression of amateurishness.
Oh well, the usual lack of interest causing the s/p to drift. But just watch people scrabbling to get back in over coming months should there be signs of a decent copper deposit.
"Well, every deposit pretty well in that region is a billion tons"
At say 0.6% copper that equates to 6m tonnes of copper
At currently $9700/tonne that's $58.2bn worth...
.... but it's still in the ground so you can only attribute a few % of that value depending on many variables like grade, depth, jurisdiction etc...
So let's say 3% x $58.2bn = $1.746bn of which we would own c. 20%
So around $349m or £277m, or around 10-11x our current Mcap
To sum up my very very ballpark figures, I'd guesstimate that the discovery of each average sized tier 1 copper deposit would therefore add 20p to the s/p.
SJ - you seem to be quite outspokenly negative for someone who's just come down with the last shower of rain...
Yes it crossed my mind that Anglo would do well to crack on and produce some promising cores as the buyout negotiations develop.
...and nothing but dry sunny weather in Zambia in recent and coming days
Posturing, of course, to up the initial offer.
https://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/news/AN_1714113446210582100/top-news-anglo-american-rejects-opportunistic-bhp-takeover-offer.aspx
Google "Anglo American shares surge after BHP proposes £31.1bn takeover to create copper mining giant – business live" for the Guardian's take on the possible deal.
"Anglo’s exposure to copper compared to other listed miners is core area of BHP’s focus, as it looks to benefit from the material as the energy transition gathers pace."
They want to divest iron and platinum assets and concentrate on copper. So we should remain central to their future strategy.
Yes the additional testing was mentioned in January 2023 and was supposed to last 6-8 weeks. Then the August RNS said results by autumn 2023, but nothing mentioned since then. I guess it's more important to keep Amitsoq moving along, so I'm happy to leave other projects on the back burner for now.
did we ever get the results back from the additional testing of the 2022 tbs drill results?
from the august 2023 interim results -
"test work to determine the ilmenite content of the co****r grain fraction within drill core samples from thule black sands ("tbs"), greenroc's ilmenite mineral sands project in north greenland, is near completion and is expected to be reported this autumn."
Thanks. Destination = Wellintodoublefiguresville :-)
Yes developing a mineral resource is usually a snails pace undertaking. At least we have normally glacial bureaucracy on our side helping instead of hindering. All being well I'd hope the s/p to rerate incrementally as each stage of development is reached. IMO what should be obvious is that we are currently undervalued at these present levels.
