Be wary of those that post for their own agenda ;) :)
If you look at the market, people aren't trading financials at the moment. There's a real disconnect. They're trading news - when cinemas get an open date - jump, when people start going again - jump. As long as you're adding your Stop Loss in (which I've be upping, as the price increases) You're protected on the downside and looking good on the up, IMO.
Agree on the longer run comment. With that and Mulan the only big films in town, they'll stretch. You also make a good point on the seat restrictions selling out due to limited availability. It'll be interesting to see what the health guidelines are, having to wear a mask during a performance will affect numbers.
Good film to start with too... Nolan is a big supporter of the cinema experience, especially IMAX. They've created multiple formats of the film with this in mind
Agreed, whoever is selling, keep selling please :) lets get some lower price buys.
Hey anewman18, we've had a nice YoYo effect over the last month, a lot of us have been trading - buy in the 50s, sell in the 70s... and repeat. There are a few comments below on if that will happen again (which likely know more than I do). It can't be ignored that at some point in the next month Cinemas are going to get a reopen date.
AGM pre-notice has the following line - 'the meeting will comprise only the formal votes without any business update or Q&A'
James Bond moved back from April to November
Agreed, very possible
In a long term position, 7-10 years
Hello All, I'm back in. While I expect a poor year at the box office and cinemas might close for the virus. Happy to sit back and collect the dividends at this price. If the price falls sharply again, I'll wait and pick up some more
Jumanji - Studio (Sony) predicted opening weekend (US Domestic) 35mill - opens to 60mill actual. Star Wars next weekend as well as Cats followed by Little Women and 1917 (very much a cinema film) before the year is out.
Just a quick message to thank this forum for posting your thoughts and news. It's been a testing time on this stock over the last few months but managed to get out this morning with my money back.
Long term investors - I think you'll be fine. After 2020 the slate improves
Short term investors - be careful, Jumanji and Star Wars will provide a cushion but next year the slate is weak (I work in film) We had three record-breaking films this year and it was still seen as a failure.
Hope the outlook improves for you all
My two pennies although not sure worth much :). All the major cinema chains seem to have had a good Q3, the box office of the films released match this so I don't see why the Q3 update wouldn't be average to positive. We're about to hit a run of Frozen 2, Jumanji and Star Wars. If there's an early Jan trading update I expect it to be average to positive. However the box office next year is weak and we're in the middle of the streaming wars... so I expect this is why the shorters are lining up.
Trading Update has been added to calendar for 3rd December. Late for a Q3 update, although after Frozen release and close to next dividend. Hhhhmmmmm
