Carllapos - I hear you, I'm sitting defensive at the mo because (as you mention) I feel we're in for some economic pain in the short term. Companies are starting to announce massive layoffs (the government support has to run out at some point). However, out of the other end, I do think we'll recover higher than ever before. You can imagine the party once there's a successful vaccine in wide usage.
Worth noting, all my defensive stocks I also like for the long term, so happy to keep sitting in them for the time being e.g. Apple (5g), National Grid (Electric cars) etc, etc. I told you I was holding boring type stuff ;):)
My portfolio is super boring and defensive at the moment, CINE is my only fun, swing stock. I always say, if you can accept a 40% increase but not a 40% decrease in rapid fashion. CINE isn't for you :);)
Share up 5.62% today, are we all friends again ;):)
This map/data we shared ages ago has proved mighty useful - https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/new-cases-50-states
Watching those covid numbers for all those weeks, has paid off
Been away for a few days, what have I missed? :) Keep it simple - If you think it's going back to £1, you currently get a 40% discount on new shares. If you think it's going to drop significantly, sell. If you're unsure or like the long term prospects, hold. Do your own research... and don't listen to randoms from the tinterweb to set your opinion ;) Bearish or Bullish links to research, news from trusted sources, always welcome. Good luck all, hope you all make lots of money.
Appreciate you sharing your opinion. Links to news, articles and facts, always welcome
Good topic of conversation, what are we thinking re-economy. Another dip and W recovery or a staggered V. Also echo some comments below, please keep a raining day fund for security and to take advantage of any further drops on shares you like.
What you thinking Investroid, what price do you have in mind to come back in on? I'm expecting at least another week of US panic headlines.... but conscious CINE opens in a couple of weeks in the UK.
For how many weeks, have we been stressing covid number monitoring on this board :) Should get a further fall on Disney, looking to add for the long term when the price starts getting attractive.
Hey Aimigo, in the US, each of the states sets its own open date. Rather than a blanket government rule like England
This is why I think we'll see them open widely in the New York area first (low infection rate)
Is good news now only acceptable on this board :) ;) links to articles from trusted sources should always be welcome
Haich's post below is worth a read. Good interview with Mooky. Thanks for sharing
With CINE having the majority of their business in the US, if you aren't watching the coronavirus numbers (cases, deaths and hospitalisations) in the US, you are not managing risk, you're trading on hope in the short term. I expected reopenings to be done on a state by state basis which Cineworld have confirmed is the plan, they're targetting the New York area first because they've had their first wave and are not seeing an increase at the moment.
Important to remember, any spike in cases won't effect the death rate for a number of weeks. I really hope it doesn't happen but would expect an increase in 3 weeks time. :(
Death rate is falling nicely in the UK but pretty sure the BBC reported 173 deaths today.
Been watching the numbers every day. Seems to be the states that are still on their first wave. I agree with Fauci, it'll be localised shutdown, rather than the whole country again. Keep an eye on Disney SP if it has to close the parks again, potential buying opportunity for the long term. While I bought CINE today, any big increase over the weekend could spook the market on Monday. As we always say, about managing risk in your portfolio and playing the long game.
hahaha just catching up on the chat, also came off the sidelines this morning and increased holding. Don't tell me, me and Investroid think alike.... aaarrrggghhhhh :) ;)
While I purely see Investroid's posts as mild entertainment :) ;) I think it's important useful sources of data are posted on this board. If you want to track the latest trends in the US, I've found this useful - https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/new-cases-50-states . Similar to a lot of you, I would like to be in more.... but I'm going to see how the situation develops and hold for now
Investroid second forum account - nightyard ;) :)
