Edison do seem to be hinting that apple could still be wanting to use our QDs in an iPhone. That would be a great lift! Not sure if they've heard something or are just guessing, but interesting comment I thought.

Also, Boracic, keep in mind the 200-250m you have based your values off is based on the low end that Edison predict. This price seems to assume that the damages are based off the cost of the QD materials used only and not taking into account the fact that using QD was a big selling point for those TVs. Who knows where the damages could be if the jury take this into account (as they should - QDs weren't some obscure internal component, a lot of people were going out looking for a QD TV)

It states: "APIX uses a machine learning algorithm to rate the chances the PTAB may institute on a patent based on its similarity to all past institution decisions. Patents are ranked from D (least likely) to AA (most likely) to survive a PTAB challenge."

I guess the PTAB challenge in this instance could could just mean that the IPR is instituted (whether or not the patent is invalidated)

When doing a bit of research, I found a website (Unifiedpatents) where they have developed a tool to measure patent validity called APIX. It rates the chances the PTAB may institute on a patent based on its similarity to previous institution decisions. A rating of AA is most likely to survive PTAB challenge, D is lowest. I have no idea how good this rating is, so take it with a pinch of salt!

Of our patents involved in this case:
9,680,068 is a B
7,588,828 is a B
7,803,423 is an A (preparation of nanoparticle materials)
7,867,557 is a B
8,524,365 is a B

So according to this measurement, 7,803,423 is our safest bet! Although according to the unifiedpatents website, even with an A (which puts it in the top 16% of all patents for validity), due to the institution rate, it has only a 50/50 chance...

I've finished reading through the transcript. A lot of it went over my head, but I would guess that we will lose the emulsion claim (based on the comment the judge made about it being an uphill battle for the Mintz lawyer), but stand a good chance on the MCC. The judge seemed annoyed at Samsungs lawyers trying to introduce new evidence and Mr Newman seemed to give a good account of himself.

I'm not sure which of the 5 claims relate to each of the emulsions and MCC discussions though.

Same with Fidelity (the £45 cap on exchange traded instruments), but the fees for open ended funds are a bit lower at 0.35%. I am only buying exchange traded instruments (using the regular saver for £.50 trades) from now on and have been moving index funds and active funds to their ETF/IT equivalent.

I'd love to add some more at this level, but the spread is putting me off a bit. Saying that, you're still buying the same shares for 1.5p that many of us have been buying at 2-3p in recent months/ years.

Why did you buy in to the trust then? It has had companies like Dominos since inception.
The trust is all about quality, cash generative companies that will do well whatever happens in the world.

What is it that makes you think it is doggy doo? The underlying companies? he investment approach? The managers? Or simply that it's gone down recently?

Think all the positive reviews for MHC from the Covid tests will serve us well when the new products come out. Anyone trying to decide what company to go with for their lifestyle/allergy testing will look on review sites and see that MHC has thousands of positive reviews.

For example Thriva (who I have used in the past and who have been offering vitamin and other similar tests for years) have a trustpilot score of 4.3 from 1365 reviews. MHC has a trustpilot score of 4.4 from 6566 reviews!

So it's not just cash in the bank that the pandemic has been useful for. I remember when we were Concenpta, we had about 20 (paid for) reviews on trust pilot. If we'd have launched the new products then, with that trust pilot presence, I don't think the new products would have had as much of a chance as they will this year

And i guess the share price would jump on a decision by the good judge regardless of what funny tricks Samsung may try after that

What have you got against moderna in particular?

Where has the CEO said H2 for the new products? Can't see that anywhere.
