Noticed that Samsung had released their 2021 business report the other day. I had a look to see if there was anything about the litigation in there. All I could find was a bit saying:

"Litigation
The company is involved in various claims, disputes, and investigations conducted by regulatory bodies, which arose during the normal course of business with numerous entities. Although the outflow of resources and timing of these matters are uncertain, as of the reporting date, the company believes the outcome will not have a material impact on the financial position of the company".

Doesn't sound like they're overly bothered.

That's a separate issue really kind. We'd have to litigate in the EU countries to possibly get an injunction there. We could do that to pressure them in the US though.

The US doesn't really 'do' injunctions. I'm not sure what recourse you have in the US if they don't pay

Risks for the court case as I see them (based on what ive read and what BT said):
- Samsung manage to convince the judge to pause the trial until their appeal into the PTAB is complete or for some other reason. Pushing things back a year (Very unlikely).

- Samsung argue that even though the patents are valid they didn't infringe them (they will almost definitely argue this, but I don't see it working).

- Samsung argue that the QD dots didn't make that much difference to the value of the TV, in order to lower the fine (unlikely the judge will see it this way, but possible that they will manage to reduce the fine a bit).

- Our lawyers put in a poor showing and fail to convince the jury, possibly overcomplicating arguments to lay people (unlikely as they did a fine job in PTAB)

- Samsung lose at trial and drag out appeals for years or simply refuse to pay (fairly likely)

Hopefully nanosys are one of the next companies we go after if that is the case! Wonder when we will start going after others? I guess we'll wait for the court case to be over and then maybe soon after

Nano keeping my portfolio out of the red today. Sadly, my cheeky limit order of 32p didn't get filled today. The price moved up too quick. I'll try again tomorrow with a slightly higher limit price

Well, Nano have wiped the floor with Samsung at the PTAB! Final decision out today. All went Nano's way.

I wonder if Samsung may have won the other two, or they're split decisions and that's why they're being published separately? Hope not and there's some other reason for the separation

What ridiculous advice from the interviewer. Telling people to dump something when it has dropped and put that money into something that has done well recently. The opposite of what you should be doing.

I wonder if that means we could get more money off Samsung in the US courts for TV's sold internationally, then in addition, sue Samsung in those other places as well... double bubble if you will

Not much new in the interview really. The only thing I noticed was that BT seemed to think it would be on the 19th May that we get the decision from PTAB, rather than before (although before is still possible).

If SMT carries on it's long term performance, you'll probably check it in 30 years and realise you could have retired 10 years earlier if you'd have checked it sooner :D
