Evening mate,was just taking up the invitation to correct mask on a technical point on property,not holding Flybe now but have tucked into a few plus today with one toe....trying to convince myself I did the right thing as they’re ex div this week...as one does when the SP falls off a cliff the moment you buy...help!! Evening all. On the point of property exchange and completion, exchange is legally binding to complete on the agreed completion date whereupon completion is irrevocable when the vendor’s solicitors have received the funds. Up to 10% of the sale/purchase price is liable to be paid if either the seller or purchaser fails to complete and I only saw two fall throughs after exchange in 32 years,both by the purchasers unable to complete. Technically if the buyer fails to complete on the completion date they are served notice to complete and interest is chargeable and if they subsequently fail to complete they forfeit whatever deposit has been paid(the seller gets it less abortive legal costs to their solicitor and it’s a gray area on agents fees!). If the full 10% isn’t held from exchange they can try and sue for it but due to the circs it’s unlikely they’ll get it. If the seller ‘pulls out’ post exchange my assumption is they’re liable to pay 10% but I’ve never come across one of those ones. It’s very unusual and a right mess to sort out but does happen once in a blue moon. How that relates to a commercial deal I’ve no idea.

Two 4 drawer cabinets with hanging files alphabetical just like a proper estate agent would set up mate!! Biggest holding a diversified fund and top heavy in vod,klr,pfc,cyn,saga,imb and imminently sla if they stay down there. Will probably reduce the larger ones and get more spread as the last time I overdid an individual company it went tits up(carillion!). Also have a drawer of delisted stuff but sporadically burn the contract notes which is some consolation for a pyro like me lol

I quite enjoy it which helps,most I ignore as a lot are trusts/diversified funds which are buy and forgetters and unless something goes up or down a lot I don’t pay much attention. If we included the ‘specs’ like range,chariot,borders etc etc I think I’m adding to my tally but have that lot in a different account(which is probably a good thing as they’re not pleasant viewing!).

Fair enough,best stick to targets. I’ve got a load already for the yield which I hope they’ll continue to pay. Thinking of adding to GFRD as they’re a good yielder and move around all the time but tbh I’ve got somewhere in the region of 150 holdings so keeping track is hard work! Tried all manner of strategies over the years but find being more diversified is a lot easier,less in more and just keep a close watch on the ‘big ones’!

I’d speculate they were sold at a discount as such a large stake,effectively a neg trade. Who bought them or was it a spread around the II’s,either way it’s spooked the SP today for sure! Will see where they go next week and probably end up addding to my existing as like most holders I’m averaging down and the yield assuming it holds is a good enough incentive in itself...IMO...

No matches there but agree it’s not worth the stress of being too heavy in one share,doesn’t matter what the fundamentals are,anything can happen! Did you go into SIA?

Evening mate,was up there Wednesday and a couple of days last week digging out for a new hardstanding etc. TUI just went in under a tenner for the divvy,not sure I’ll chase it as so many others out there looking ‘too cheap’. SLA for instance after a big holder spooked the recovery by selling out. Might add them next week or CMCX which has been dragged down by the plus drop. RTN recovered a bit today but still looks cheap IMO....I thought Vodafone was cheap under 2 quid and William hill under three mind you!

Also hold a lot of these and bats ,added on weakness as an income play,surprisingly volatile as I’d always considered these to be very defensive. No plans to offload but could get tempted to reduce if/when we get back to the thirties....I relish that dilemma! GLA

Good idea,worth looking at PHNX too in that sector(I hold them plus Aviva). KLR also worth a look esp. under a fiver which I’ve added recently on SP weakness plus the dividend history which I posted on there recently. I probably hold all the funds you’ve mentioned in the past but recently added PGIT,diversified utilities,renewables etc and decent quarterly div.

Evening all,seems like I’m flat against last weeks close despite a few profits and reinvests,some up some down and chasing the divs as ever. A good ten percent down on tui but bagged a div so not so bad I guess. Good luck on the pension idea troj(scrollled back a million pages to our last conversation!). That’s a big belief in wres,hope they come good for you.

No idea on pensions either but I thought you can take a lump sum out early without penalties at a certain age? Lse working okay this end. Anyway better get some kip..catch up soon mate.

You’d be better off doing your own pension.....easy 6-7% yields on shares and funds currently and I bet you’d buy better than them! Anyway early start for me tomorrow so night mate and all.

I guess there’s lots of stuff we mortals aren’t privy to,broker downgrades and upgrades always seem a bit suss if you ask me...and they vary so much! Yes he needs to return so we can talk divs lol!! Keep a close eye on them mate.

Thanks for that. Good luck with that one and hope no placings!! Petrofac embroiled in bribe scandal and some disgruntled ex holders want compo for the corresponding drop in the SP.....bet they wouldn’t be instructing lawyers if their shorts went the wrong way!
