It’s the distances for sure, some of my rels in West Australia live sixty miles from the corner shop! Mind you,I think their and your ‘gas prices’ are a bit more friendly than ours!!
Sorry just to qualify that, in my youth I travelled most of the known world and just about everyone I ever got talking to always seemed to a have a distant relative or know someone ‘from London’…especially the yanks and Canadians who see us as such a tiny place and just assume lol
Vive la difference as they say, I didn’t realise NI voted to stay but I guess NI is unfortunately divided on many issues going forwards and I’ve never been there so have no comment,Scotland is a big one and ultimately I’m sure the economics rather than the sentiments will decide where they end up. Most people would see the UK as a United States of England south of the border and overseas most people think the whole of the UK outside London is just outside London lol. Just trying to lighten the mood as politics can get a bit heavy at times and I’m sure we all look at it differently depending where we’re from.
Good point, it’s a cold, foggy and damp one today for sure!
Hi Gazzleberry, that’s an interesting thought on Scotland. Regarding Boris I think the electorate will look at him as the deliverer of what the electorate actually voted for as in brexit whilst everyone else dithered regardless of your persuasion on that one. Mind you, Churchill delivered on beating Germany and their fair weather European friends and he lost the election afterwards!
I think our biggest concern will be where the monarchy goes after Her Majesty.
Hi nom, my view has always been that it might not be perfect but our archaic systems give us more stability than anywhere else in the world.
I know what you mean but the alternative,is there one,? let’s face it labour hasn’t been electable since Blair and the way they’re going they never will be and I wonder who is really pushing for the top slot, who would want it currently!
At worst I reckon it’s freed up some shares from a previously small freefloat and there’s better liquidity and volume which I assume will help the long awaited rerate kick off with all the positives surrounding what they do and the environment and sentiment surrounding what they do?
I must admit I’m still adding under 3 for the divvy and recent additions of JSGI and JCGI have fared worse than these on SP so I guess the fact they haven’t really moved much isn’t such a bad thing? This one is starting to feel like ones like JLEN and NCYF that don’t really move much but do pay the big quarterly divs and even if they were 20p of so higher I wouldn’t be selling anyway….40-50p higher a different thing though!
History will look back at us as the inward-looking, ‘it’s alright for them’ ,negative in everything miserable buggers having read the news today! At least Profumo was a bit more spicy than a few drinks after work(whilst working to try an navigate the country through a pandemic)…I get that it’s bad but really is it that bad and worthy of so much attention when the world at large has somewhat bigger issues!
Hope everyone doing okay, not a bad start to the year if we disregard the drop on polymetal lol
They were higher than this when the pandemic hit and no one wanted to buy oil at 25 dollars a barrel and the world was going to end!
Agreed, all the good news over the last few months, increased revenue etc etc should now move it forwards. Liontrust certainly created some averaging down opportunities for us longtermers as well as new holders. Onwards and upwards GLA
Good riddance to them, that overhang has been holding us back whilst peers like hunting, wood group etc have rocketed from the lows!
We often found the seeds of an instruction were down at Christmas when people spent some time at home and realised the house was too big, small too whatever. Put that scenario with the first lockdown and the spring surge being locked down and suddenly everyone wants to move, add the SDLT tax breaks and cheap lending and supply/demand created an artificial market.
A market where houses sell themselves and it’s all about the fee.
Too early to tell this year but property is cyclical and should the supply/demand pendulum swing the deal makers (as opposed to the likes of Bricks )will once again reign supreme putting chains together, ‘negotiating’ and although I hold a few recovery/just in case ones here, in all honesty I just can’t see them winning instructions when agents cease being order takers.
Complacency and lack of incentive to actually sell something isn’t limited to pretender agents but when the market tightens up it’s always been the case that the ones who work harder and push to do viewings evenings/weekends will walk all over these listing oppos and fwiw I always made more money in a so called bad market!
The lack of fiduciary duty to the client clearly demonstrated by chasing factory conveyancers who pay the largest referral fee and the lettings deposits doesn’t scream ‘bid for me’….however I guess you never know so you take your chances as there’s often a disconnect between investments in shares over reality!
You’d think with the green credentials etc etc they’d be adding! I guess if they’re reducing still our recovery will take longer unless they do a deal with the 12 mill left, slightly miffed this reduction has snuffed out what should have been a big rise on the recent orders imo
It’ll be interesting to see if or who comes out of the woodwork on this one but in the absence of something radical and quick, it’s not looking good.
Typo…order takers!
I still think there might be some value in the brand but if /when the market tightens up and deal makers replace prefer takers it could go either way here. They’re not the only company that’s expanded ahead of growth and come a cropper!
Hi Sain, saw the same story on the ‘eye’ earlier. From personal experience a managed let is max £1,000 each so with the legal/potential liabilities pending I guess we can make our own assumptions unless the dash for trash is still out there and someone wants it,who knows!
Good point AA ,being happy in your own skin is contentment itself. Always made my own luck in business whereas in ‘shareworld’ anything can happen and I hope we all get a good dollop of good luck this year!!
