Now,as always , the devil's in the detail, I read that as the total between them? If so it shows how little confidence they have themselves. The new excuse is world shortage of semiconductors, if they were that sure if the orders any competent board would have contracted at a fixed price earlier. This would have resulted in any outlay up front necessarily. Anyone who had any idea of working in a commercial environment would have negotiated some sort of a fixed price / ceiling price deal with the supplier. You would perhaps pay a few pence more for each unit but have surety of price.
Looks like a cheap price takeout on the cards due to lack of funding is raising its head. AIMO of course but DYOR once Tony enters the Big Ring with his spinning top.

Thanks LTI. From stuff I have been following over the weekend it looks like there may still be a potential backlash in general for China re Covid.
The concerns regards a cover up around its origin and China's reluctance to support any independent enquiry will no doubt cost them long term. I guess their loss of trust with security of networks etc will be someone else's gain. Time will tell.

Also makes me wonder why CC are involved with China as well. I've said before I have concerns.

No need to get out of your pram, it was an opinion,you have yours and I have mine. It matters little to me as I will be reinvesting any returns. Some may be desperate for the extra cash after the dividend was cut and that's fine, their choice. Let's wait and see what happens. More importantly ,relax ,it's sunny,enjoy the long weekend.

Forget. What makes you think the share price will be the same after the special dividend payout. It's essentially no different to a normal dividend with the share price dropping by the same amount. Remember you are removing an asset (cash) from the company books. Using the cash to pay off debt does not have this effect.
If the share price remained the same after the special dividend it would be free money for everyone including short term dividend chasers. Do you not think the recent share price rise has nothing to do with the amount of cash floating around the company? Only time will tell of course. AIMO.

Interesting things for me was that Covid could have a positive effect and the geopolitical issues with China may make it difficult for them.
No doubt Cc will have the same issues with China in the current climate. Would be interesting to see what solution the Chinese are offering, CCs or their own similar solution.

Spot on Pedsy. With the recent suggestion of a possible rise in inflation and the potential for a subsequent rise in interest rates we will see the effect it has in companies carrying large amounts of debt.

Tony . You really are stretching the truth here. If it were the case why not sign a binding contract. That's me done ,like I say you follow your method I will follow mine. Call me risk averse if you like .

Hi Nuri.Not in Tesco but that was another example of it not being a good outcome. Mark Wilson did a share buy back what a disaster that was! I guess shareholders have the option of using the cash to buy additional shares if they do see a significant drop when the cash is returned.

Hi Nuri. perhaps you could explain your rationale? If the company pay a special dividend if return cash they are effectively removing an asset (cash) from the company .The share price would fall accordingly as a general rule in my experience of other holdings. Of course the price you bought in at will be relevant to the difference in share price at the time of the payout. Like avocet I would rather they put the cash to good use.
