Don't understand what's happening with the SP. It apparently closed at 261 following the MS announcement but Google was already showing that it was down to 256 at around close of trading. This morning it's dropped to 251. So 10p down in a matter of moments and the only news is good news. Corbyn out, Boris in, China-US trade war de-escalated, and an upgrade from MS.

Hopefully Corbyn stays on - we don't want an opposition leader who's an actual threat. He's turned out to be quite a gift with his mad, socialist views.

Opened over 10% up! Hope the momentum carries on throughout the day!

Could be a good day if the numbers play out per the exit poll.

We quite desperately need a Conservative majority I would say. Anything else puts this stock at risk. On the plus side, that does seem to be what the polls are pointing to.

So there are rumours that LBG will buy Metro. Interesting to see in hindsight how challenger banks might be able to get up and running and innovate quickly, but survivability and longevity is another question - especially where the cost of speed is catastrophic mistakes. Makes one wonder what disasters are in store for the other challengers.

The full year consensus for 2019 mentions 24p. So less the 12+2 already paid at half year, that would seem to be a year end divi of at least 10p.

EU has apparently agreed a Brexit 'flextension' to 31st January, so a Christmas General Election perhaps more likely. Wondering if we'll see a little bounce today?

They said that they would need to take a further provision of £600m-£900m for increased PPI claims received just prior to deadline. Then in results today, they've taken the max provision of £900m resulting in an unusually square £8m operating loss. Also it's widely reported that something like >90% of PPI claims do not translate to a pay out. So I wonder whether they've given us the worst possible news for Q3 so as to surprise the market at FY results in a few months time? Overly optimisitic?
Also, did anyone notice in the consensus that FY19 results include a £200m share buyback (?) and total dividend of 24p (i.e. at least 10p dividend come year end).

The House of Commons speaker John Bercow has ruled that he will not permit MPs to have a ‘meaningful vote’ on Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal today.

“My ruling is that the motion will not be debated today as it would be repetitive and disorderly to do so,” he told MPs.

That's opened better than I was expecting.

Just read in the Telegraph that Boris is doing well today at convincing various MPs to back his deal. After buying in at £1.84 (SIPP money) and selling at £2.24, I've now just bought back in at £2.37 (including fees). If it crashes on Monday due to No Deal it will recover eventually. But if a deal is passed, that will be a great wave to ride.

JCJ is saying that there will be no extension to the Brexit deal. Will it be enough to buckle opponents of Boris' deal?
DUP - voting against on the basis of customers, consent, and VAT issues
Lib Debs - voting against on the basis that they want a People's Vote
Labour - voting against on Corbyn's instruction and on the basis that Boris' deal is even worse than May's
Brexit Party - have no votes but going around telling everyone not to back it
SNP - Will not vote for Brexit in any form

"Our earlier statement still stands," a DUP source said, suggesting in their opinion, a deal has not been done which they can get on board with.
Are they really going to stand in the way of a deal?! I'm so interested to find out.

JRM has claimed that MPs will now back Boris' brexit deal to get it through parliament. Problem is, EU hasn't yet signaled its agreement to anything.

Some news coming out that today's negotiations have been constructive and a deal is starting to take shape. Could be another SP jump tomorrow.

Well I don't usually call it right, but bought in 20,000 shares at £1.84 two months ago and sold them all today at £2.24. All within my SIPP wrapper. Was not intending to sell but after such a good day, and after reading a negative article in The Independent about the EU poo-pooing the latest deal talks, I set up a stop loss and about 2 minutes later it executed.
Still holding another 11,000 in ISAs, as well a bunch of protected share options.
