Companies such as Shell need to be actively encouraged to get on with drilling sooner rather than latter. I suspect the government and consumers are more desperate for them to do this than the likes of Shell are themselves. Instead of making threats the government should be talking to them.

Shell knew they where going to make a massive profit before they announced a delay in drilling. They also knew the effects on the economy of high energy prices and the prospect of a windfall tax. Delay drilling and make the government think twice about a windfall tax. Just a thought.

Are the delays in drilling a response or pre-response to the prospect of a windfall tax?.

fairdealer20 re read my post. It is not scaremongering. Quite the opposite. I think this is a buying opportunity.

In my experience when a company goes bust or bad news is released people are shocked and surprised. I am talking here about small local companies but I recon the principle is the same for larger companies. The people who are not surprised and shocked are the people in the know. The directors. If they where planning on doing a placing, knowing what they know, surly they would have done it weeks ago.

Sinking ship, what rubbish.
If you have shares in this company and feel that this is a sinking ship then sell them.

In which case this could already be written into the current share price.

I have emailed DELT and asked when we can expect an update.
I suggested that an update was overdue.
I know I won't get information but just felt something had to be said.

At this moment in time I can see no reason why the price of this share will do nothing but go up in price.

Do they employ an MP in their PR department. They told you nothing. As I have said previously they must know a date for drilling now. " I would like to book a drilling rig" "OK just let us know a couple of weeks before you you need one" I mean come on!!

You may be correct.
My thoughts are that if you are going to book a vessle or drilling rig or whatever, you don't do it a couple of weeks before. I am sure they know the date they intend to start drilling, so why not announce it?
I may be wrong and if so stand corrected.

A start date would be sufficient.

We need an update from the BOD. The lack of information from them is becoming a bit of a worry.

Announcing a raft of new economic sanctions amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Ursula von der Leyen said it was time the European Union moved on from buying Russian gas and invested in renewable energy options from "reliable suppliers".

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, she said: "This crisis shows that Europe is too dependent on Russian gas, we have to diversify our supplies, and we have to go to reliable suppliers.
"We will have to massively invest in renewable energy, that is where the future is.
"Because this is a strategic investment in our energy investments."
She also added how it was "absolutely right" for Germany to scrap its controversial Nord Stream 2 project which saw Russia supply the Germans with gas.
