Not saying it is conclusive one way or the other but as it is the first “ official” communication from ZM in a very long time and one in which stuff does not get lost in translation then 8 don’t think you can blame anyone for “ getting excited”.
Yes the outcome here is TBA but you can’t blame anyone for cheering one their boxer for fighting back when let’s face it we have spent much of the time on the ropes and a few times on the floor nearing being out fir the count.
At least moves onto another round but not throwing in the towel but the 3 man judging inanely has yet to reach its verdict.

Have just read transcript again and if you have only read it once suggest you may want to have another read.
Second time enables you to digest the info and ZMs responses make a bit more sense and certainly I feel even more optimistic than after the first reading.
Still up to arbitrators to decide but at least we have 2 sides to the story and gives us much more hope than when you only get one side.

Hope you are well.Yes good to see first ZM comment in a long time being so open/ positive(from point of view of not underestimating the delicacy of situation but that FRR is still fighting hard).
As you say hard to see where that figure comes from and may be nothing to do with failure to pay tax/ contribution but as compensation for a “ failure to adhere to conditions of PSA” which they believe FRR cannot affirm/ survive.
It us understandable why ZM has been keen to give nothing away but also interesting that nowhere in all the current arguments have GG referred to bankruptcy court cases in any detail when they must be aware of what has gone on.
There is an obvious side gulf between the two parties but the disparities when involving “ fact” like $3.5bn claim/ reason for 60-70m due is very good news as should enable arbitrators to reach a more equitable decision than purely arguing over “ alleged harassment “/“withholding info”or otherwise which both parties can claim.
Meeting with GK back in 2016 could be interesting as to me he is one of the relative few GG politicians very Pro west and maybe prepared to stand up to Bidzina and tell the truth.

One thing we can be sure of if anyone thinks the Congressmen are in FRRs pocket for a few 1000 dollars when the prize and issue so fundamental and huge for US geopolitics then they are definitely barking up the wrong tree.
The fact that the GG have been so keen to link the two as a major issue is indicative to me of a well co ordinated campaign which throws a lot of doubt imo with the other Georgian claims.
Look at what we know GG has spent $6m on lawyers side so as claims like FRR have sued them for $3.5bn should be easily established as fact or fake news then surely the arbitrators will be aware of the facts.

As the press service of the Parliament said, the meeting summed up the visit of the Speaker to the US.

Also would not underestimate pressure from Georgia neighbours re the importance of keeping the bear away like Azerbaijan as they are further East and fully dependent on pipeline to export their O&G.
We know they are not friends of FRR but surely the lesser of two evils

I seem to recall a few on here the thought the PSA issue was about the failure of FRR to progress into the producer stage and hence retain the exploration phase longer.
Do we think that is what the GG may be arguing about saying we continued to spend money on exploration rather than pushing in with the production.Trying to tie it in with why GG went to arbitration in 2017..Plus if course FRR countering in their statement about producing $60m.

Yes still too close to call as we don’t know finer details.
If the GG govt is genuine about “ We did not ask FRR to spend this much” then I think FRR would have fair grounds to say it was taking time to prove up as it is exploration and surely you can’t spend too much on developing a huge asset.
I think that FRR have not kept the GG fully informed of everything and of course have not courted popularity with the GG but again could argue that after the experience in Azerbaijan and the geo political tensions/ bias then it had a perfect right to be circumspect with the info.
However not giving adequate disclosure could have broken the terms of the PSA.
I would be a lot happier if GK was still PM( when SN has the spat with KK).It was a few months after that the initial complaint to the arbitrators went in and I think that drew the first battle lines the two sides.
Since then FRR tried to ramp up efforts to secure a plan moving forward based on unlocking the box.
However the technical issues with UD2 and the battle with Hope have caused all sorts of issues moving forward.
We know at times FRR have over promised and shown arrogance in not disclosing stuff but the 2 huge positives I took were the skin the game and in particular the conversion of the loans at 1p to fully align with SH.
If they had been the mysterious sellers then they may have pulled a stroke but I firmly believe it was not them as why fight so hard now and I remember a conversation with the Nomad in this very point where he said it was theoretically possible but extremely unlikely as Levan would certainly not have kept quiet if he knew of it.
Hopefully the US pressure will pay off and those “ smoke filled rooms “ work their magic.
