I wonder Why the papers didn’t use that info instead of just using the short tracker info when they insinuated Matt was speaking bs and there was only 1.2% short.

Agree with that totally, they should also state where they got the stock from.

Maybe Anything over £500k should be reported. At 0.5% they could Short £55m of THG at £8 and not disclose anything (both sides long and short).

And the TR1 disclosure thresholds … 3% 5%.. and no up to date significant shareholders list listed on the website.
Should be 1% or lower when talking £100m+ stakes, at least aim stocks have the rule 26 on their websites.

None of us would be buying here is “shorters” we’re not “attacking” the stock (I feel it’s more to do with the lock up periods ending, look at the dates and the charts, “360 days from 30/9/2020”.)

Naked shorting, shorting more shares than shares that exist - yea should be illegal, but Black rock covering a large investment with a hedged short, or using their own stock to earn a few % by loaning them out for a few days / months- no problem with that, they own the stock and can do what they want with it.

It should be a fairly simple task, dot the i' cross the t' have the right company structure required and a multi billion mcap but Matt would really have to come to terms with not being in control for THG to get to that point.

250 more likely if at all, as it wont have a high enough mcap for 100 if it spins off Beauty, probably end up with Beauty having a higher mcap over the remaining assets held within THG, Nutrition / Ingenuity etc.

A side thought, Beauty is where most of the cash coming from, its possible Matt might buy into the Beauty IPO instead of more THG directly, if he does buy more THG shares directly then i would start to wonder if the plan might be to distribute shares in beauty to sharehodlers of THG directly as part of the IPO.

Once advantage of recent activities : THG would need 25% of share issue as free float to list on FTSE, black rock selling 5% brings THG much closer to reaching this requirement.

maybe the FIC barclays facility was linked to value of its underlying security - the THG shares held - and at less than half price they were close to breaching the security level required for that FIC facility, so Matt had the choice repay it, amend terms, refinance, the safest option to ensure the ownership of FIC as a whole would be to use some of the £54m FIC raised by selling at 10.8m shares in THG at £5 / share to clear the charge.

Many moving parts, i look forward to seeing the IPO documentation for THG Beauty which i expect will be worth more than current mcap on its own, hopefully that document has more numbers, less pictures and is easier to read then the financial results.

maybe thats the issue, maybe to release the shares held by FIC from that liability he has used FICs or his own liquid wealth to repay or refinance that Barclays facility to ensure that he retains the 18.8% that barclays would have had if FIC defaulted.

Hes still loaded on paper, but seeing a net worth change £1b will have an effect on his mental well being.
