The trouble with many businesses is that they are so large that the bureaucracy is overwhelming. They become no different to the public sector. The organisation is so complex that you can hide poor management in every cubby hole. As an example, my sister in law worked in the NHS. She was a specialist with one assistant. Above them were nine levels of management. Two organisations too consider: Scottish Rail and Scottish water.

There is an element of truth about not having the technology. In the late 90s, early 00s, NASA put out a call for any Z80 (8 bit) processors as these were the ancient processors used by the Saturn V rockets and lunar modules. I had some and sent them over.
I will agree that a knight in shining armour being just over the horizon is unlikely, but, short of the transaction failing, then JO holding his cash in reserve for when the share price hits 21p is (I hope) equally unlikely.

This does my head in :-). There is the metric tonne (not ton) at 1,000kg (2,204 pounds), the American "short ton" at 2,000 pounds and the UK long ton at 2,240 pounds. Thanks for the clarication.
