It's just the nature of the beast I'm afraid. Thinly traded penny shares on low volumes are simply subjects of manipulation.

There's also the wider context to consider - right now oilers are an unloved sector and Matd is listed on a very unloved exchange.

12.00 GMT is when that particular move started and that's US pre market. That Google chart only shows from the start of the main market. Professional traders are often in and out within 5 to 30 mins max, and most are trading the pre market probably more than the main market, as that's when the news mainly comes out.

Going back to trying to make some money from shares - on Nasdaq THAR ( Tharimmune ) a biotech, had a news catalyst today at 12.00 when it was just $2 a share. By 12.25 it had hit $6.5 a share..... Down a bit on that now, but that's how micro caps should react on significant news releases.

Brown screwed up city regulation, with the result that the fractional reserve ratios of lenders became like casino gambling. The likes of Goodwin at RBS tried to reward shareholders through lending at highly risky levels in relation to the deposits held by the bank, and he also invested heavily in subprime mortgages. In the end the taxpayer ended up paying the bill for their folly.

And under Labour the UK money supply increased by 300% due to the unconstrained lending - and guess what, house prices also went up by 300%. If you have more and more money chasing the same number of assets then inevitably you will get inflation of the assets. It's the same with QE.

The reality is that British people live like kings compared to large swathes of the rest of the world's populations - half of humanity lives on less than than $5.50 Dollars per day. So no, I wont feel sorry for British train drivers now on £70k a year.

And by the way - the recent house price inflation started in 1997 - house prices tripled in the Blair/Brown years. If you don't believe me look on Zoopla at typical flat or house prices in London in 1996/7....and then look at what they were being sold for in 2009/10.

Believe it or not I'm hoping for the best for Matd, both from a personal financial point of view but also from a satisfaction point of view having been investor during many of their darkest days. I feel that had the district committee voted not to allow the land access then the company would have gone bust, as the tripartite agreement is still not signed. There would have been no avenues left for the company.

Unfortunately we now have a trade union pressure group governing the country ( somehow labelled a ' political party ' ) who are completely anti private sector and completely anti-business. If Reeves scraps the break on inheritance tax on AIM investment today, then I believe that it will hit investment in AIM hard.

Thornogson ; you need to realise that you're not just putting your faith in the company, you are also putting it into an exchange which you have probably never done any research into. It has underperformed the main indices significantly this year - maybe ask yourself why ?
