"The 4pm sell off. Like clockwork"
At least a stopped clock is right twice a day ... shoulda gone to specsavers
There are two areas we "should" have news on ...
Ingenuity - all through last year - starting in Jan trading statement - there was talk of large clients for Ingenuity - I would hope to see some news soon as otherwise it was nothing but bluff IMHO
Beauty - The message on LinkedIn from Ian to MM - nod nod wink wink - I would hope to hear some news to unlock the value there too
Nutrition - The focus seems to have moved away recently - is that because the sales were a bit of a let down ?
OSG ... You actually listen to, and be affected by, what B1nky posts ? Why ??? He is just a moaning windbag best ignored. Means so little I can't even be bothered enough to filter him.
ICC ... already said it several times that he wants to hit 10% as that gives the shareholder the first point of control to be able to call an EGM.
Kelso are not a threat to THG but they are a threat to MMs control of it. Kelso starting talking to some of the 65% and that changes the dynamic meaning MM would start to lose control over bids
When MM hits 10% he starts having greater control of Kelso and you can see Kelso's wording changed a hell of a lot when MM started buying.
I hope everyone is doing well ? I'm just going to sit back and wait for the capital event :)
OSG ... I am fine .. I was going to ask you if you could pass on whatever was put in your tea. So chill out will ya ? ;)
Sole, I think someone slipped something in your tea this morning ;)
"It's Lord Allens nomination that's fuelled the surge."
What utter rubbish ... it has bounced off year lows
" I see his silence as a positive , meaning he is aligned to the Boards strategy of getting off the LSE, and at numbers higher than previously rejected bids"
Sorry but you are really grasping at straws to gleam that from silence IMHO He has always pretty much remained silent
To get that GIF on X it's under the name "Betamax" ... not that I believe anything will happen but it's nice to dream when your rumbling along in the gutter :)
"Matt is doing a great job and has taken the price down below the level it was prior to the Apollo bid 12 months ago. That bid was rejected because it failed to recognise THG’s value."
Starfighter, nope it was rejected as MM would lose control (governance issue) and not due to value.
Desert, no shouting as that is a pretty fair assessment. He did well to take THG to where he did but can he take a change of direction, like he did with Beauty, from this point to regain fair value ? ( I don't believe he even wants to list in the US. He put in the work, and expense to 'split' divisions as he was feeling pressure to do so but all the while hoping value would return to THG on it's own and it hasn't. )
Jury is still out and some may be right in saying he has had long enough to do it. I just feel his video - star falls on bad times and then fights back to a star - is a bit premature as he is currently halfway through that. It's like crowing that your team is great at halftime. What you need to do is wait until final whistle and THEN blow your trumpet !!
"Only 3pm as well. Wouldn’t count on it closing up"
Seems to have found support in October low is the way I see it
Luxs... you don't throw an MBO together that quick due to a dropping share price .. I would LOVE to be proved wrong through :)
If there was going to be an MBO would that not have happened by now ? Surly if it were possible they would do so before realising the value ..
"Interesting post Matt, actually brings back lots of good memories of being a private company!. The move into beauty was great foresight and has been a great category for us. As far as I’m aware we’re the only fully integrated online beauty business in the world which makes THG Beauty a very valuable asset - strategically and economically. That’ll be recognised one way or another soon enough"
If you were going to do a MBO you would do it before you showed the true value of assets, wouldn't you ?
MM had GS so a takeover wouldn't happen ...
Apollo put together 2 offers which the 35%, and market, do not know the value of ...
MM knocked back both offers, even though the last one was decent, due to governance (lose control of his baby) ...
MM gave up GS as he knew he had support of 65% ....
Kelso started talking to some of the 65% (which would have changed the dynamic quite a bit) ...
MM bought up Kelso and now holds 7% making him the largest shareholder ...
Kelso's responses since have been very muted ...
Can anyone tell me how a takeover could currently succeed ?
SP has nothing to do with takeover here and gone too low ? FFS it was half of today 18 months ago and a takeover didn't happen. Who are these people who come up with suck rubbish ?
Amers ... if Apollo were to do that do you not feel they would have already done it by now ?
" That’ll be recognised one way or another soon enough. "
I am in your camp on this one Apple certainly hoping something happens soon ...
What are you talking about GTC ?
"Cookson and THG, formerly known as The Hut Group, have been locked in a lengthy legal battle over his allegation that he was disadvantaged as his stake in the business was reduced from 13.12 per cent to 8.34 per cent between February 2016 and May 2018."
It's to do with his share of the business being diluted and NOTHING to do with the value plummeting in the last few years !!
