RE: Woodside loaded - Do the right thing.14 Nov 2024 13:56
Gusmao said in Parliament years ago, making it a decree law, it all comes to the Island, we do not need the outside world we can do it ourselves, the whole basis of his Tasi Mane project, then everything at the same South East complex, was indeed jobs, for the very youthful Timorese population. Raised standards of living and income taxes to his treasury, on top of the oil and gas revenues/taxes. Max benefits for his people (a noble vision)
22 years later, he still waits, for OUTSIDE help to now get it done. Has been slapped down by the local NGO's many times for the billions spent so far , giving his people squat, additionally they state, he would be lucky if 15-20% of the jobs produced if it did happen, would go to Timorese.
Responded by (with Sundagas and AB' teams assistance, long before boil/snda on the scene) inventing ANPM and Timor Gap NOC, initially with around a staff of 4 each, now with staffing of hundreds, in preparation for his dream.
It's very much now or never, Sunrise already drifted to 2030/31 production tenders and the Islands funds drying up quickly, hence Horta last year flexing with a threat of , China will do it if you will not...... (which would be complicated, lots of things attached to the Maritime boundary settlement deals with Indonesia/Australia - principally Sunrise)
Said for 4 years , AB (Sundagas hat on / not boil sunda energy) in prime position to be a FIRST yes to any alternate production, still have high hopes, Chuditch is , the when gas becomes available (PM Rauk) , for their other Gas/LNG project, to provide domestic supply security, supplying its 3 power stations, converting to gas/lng to supply the electricity grid.
That plan was for "WHEN AVAILABLE" gas supply , around 4-5 years before Sunrise could........GLALTH.
What else do they have that fits that criteria, must mean THEIR OWN GAS, others could have long supplied from elsewhere ?
