It doesn't, as you have SOLD from a trading account and have NOT rebought back IN a trading account, but in an ISA!

This 30 day ONLY applies to trading accounts!

For example - say you sell 1000 EUA shares at £1 that you bought for 50p you will have made (1000 x 50p) in profit, fine!

Provided that more than 30 days have passed and you rebuy some more EUA stock whatever you make on selling is ok!

If you did NOT wait more than 30 days between selling and rebuying you open a can of worms! called the 30-day rule!

If you bought new shares of the same type in the same company within 30 days of selling your old ones, there are special rules for working out the cost to use in your tax calculations.

Just a point,

The printout that a broker may supply an individual with, such as Halifax, to show you your profit/loss will not know or be aware or not IF you hold another share trading account!

If you hold more than ONE, the workings out COULD be wrong?

You could have sold EUA shares in one account and then purchased more EUA shares in another account within 30 days, and so breaking the 30-day rule that would affect your purchase price?

The only way to be sure is to use all the dates of sales and purchases and put them into a calculating system to be sure on your part?

The HMRC will be aware of ALL dates and ALL trades, you cannot just rely upon the info from your broker, it is a starting point only!

I have previously posted I use this company to work out my losses, gains, consolidations, splits, you name it.

I use a company called 'TimeToTrade' - https://timetotrade.com/

They have the facility to even generate and print out an 'SA108' HMRC tax form to use when you fill out your self-assessment tax return!

You just add the date, price, amount, etc for every purchase and sale, and the online app does the rest, you have to pay yearly, but it does everything you would want it to do!

Used it for years now when I had to input share transactions going back to 1985 for BT Share saves, even does splits and rights issues, etc!

20 shares for 1 is termed a share consolidation, it just reduces the shares in issue, if you bought 20 shares for 1p each you now have 1 share worth 20p, so it looks to the outside world if you don't do your research that the stock has jumped in value, when in reality you have the same percentage of the company in your share holding as you did before!

The company has previously stated there would be NO cash raises going forward, growing organically from profits reinvested.

Things may have changed, but we don't need any more cash, currently?

SO, NOTHING currently planned! ONLY the option to, IF ever needed!

The problem is this, the company is at a crossroads, it has to sound upbeat and give out a future thought progression on HOW it might increase the company turnover and profit going forward?

It is also up for sale, or parts of it?

The TWO scenarios will play out very differently!

Saying they want to increase shareholder value, is not stated to any timeframe, they are talking from NOW only!

If the company was to be wound up next month for say £1 a share, they would not have lied, they would have increased shareholder value!

However the EUA story plays out, we will ALL be winners!

The companies assets and its great position that it represented Russia at the mining convention show it has connections in the right places to win out!

We have posted up various positive scenarios which may play out?

None of us currently know the path the company will take, we need some more information for that, and that should arrive very soon prior to the AGM!

It could be a massive asset sale with a great big lump sum to each and every investor which we will call a dividend and the ending of the company as we know it?

It could be a partial asset sale with a not-so-great dividend payout, but we keep our shares going forward and receive regular dividends going forward?

It could be any combination of some of the above with a split into EUA MK 2.0?

None of us know, we are all guessing, but whatever, we will be monetarily rewarded for holding EUA shares going forward!

All future pathways say the company will be worth so much more going forward.

Let us hope the tables turn and we end the day blue, they can't keep this company's share price down for much longer, the news will break, and soon!

I went to the HMRC website and it stated this -
Reporting losses

"Claim for your loss by including it on your tax return"

(You do not have to report losses straight away - you can CLAIM up to 4 years after the end of the tax year that you disposed of the asset.)

That wording from the HMRC website, YOU can CLAIM would make you think there is a 4-year limit on making a claim?

would indeed be correct as on another website I found this!

Time limits under self-assessment
"While capital losses last forever, you first have to register them with HMRC within four years of the end of the tax year in which the loss arose. So if you made an overall loss in 2020/21 your claim must reach HMRC, on your self-assessment tax return or in a letter, by no later than 5 April 2025"

The HMRC wording is very poor, and I have to say I have learned something new!

Good to know that as long as you have reported your capital loss within 4 years of it happening you can carry it forward indefinitely!

The answer I gave you answered your question in FULL!

IT is classed as INCOME and if you wish to try and defraud HMRC, when they will know exactly how much Dividend income
YOU have received BECAUSE Halifax has a legal obligation to inform HMRC of everyone's share dealing activities!

Dividends are NOT taxed at source BECAUSE they are classed as INCOME!

The TAX you have to pay on INCOME tax is dependant on your income!

You answered your own question when you said

I took that to be a 'facetious remark' on your part as we had already gone through the tax implications of dividends!
