Calamari, unfortunately, SXX was a very long term play that would consume oodles of cash and then some, it was a dream, If the finance was in play, unfortunately as I understand it, the financiers pulled the plug and that was the end of that, sold to the highest bidder, very sorry for the investors that lost out.

Your second example Metro is not a good well run bank, it has gaping holes in its accounts and miss-placed funds and is being strongly shorted to death.

Calamari, I would assume, rightly or wrongly, that a shorter would win hands down if he was to get a sniff of a weak stock and then short it into the ground with ease, so in your case yes bashers would bash a stock and turn it into one (bad) unless someone had a sneak at the company books to know something was up prior.

I would assume that a good stock would take a lot more bashing to achieve the same thing and if you did not bash enough a good stock may rise in value and the shorter would lose out?

Purely hypothetical as I'm not a shorter and do not fully understand their ways.

So on balance, I can see the point you are trying to push but feel that a good stock would take a lot more bashing to achieve the same goal, so I can see why the generalisation is bashers only bash a good stock, because it takes more bashing to depress the value of good stock and because of this excess bashing it is perceived that bashers only bash a good stock.

There you go, I sort of agree with you, it is a perception that bashers only bash a good stock.

An olive branch was handed out to Davie by me at 08:56 today, everyone saw it, it said if you are a real investor you should be pleased to see the positive work by Alex, it was a pleasant enough post, considering his past accusations towards me and this board...

He has just responded, as usual, so no hope in him converting to being a gentleman, just more unfounded accusations...

Also apart from that post vanishing, 6 others have gone the same way.

I can only think that he has friends in high places in LSE to remove such posts, no more olive branches for you old bean.
