March 17, 2024
The trip to the WISP America Conference in Oklahoma City a couple of weeks ago opened my eyes to a fascinating trend happening in rural broadband. The US government’s $42 billion BEAD program is a game-changer, fueling a massive investment wave in high-speed internet infrastructure for underserved areas.
What struck me most was the way the conversation wasn’t about replacing fixed wireless with fiber, but rather creating a powerful hybrid approach. Fiber, with its xPON technology, offers undeniable advantages in bandwidth, cost, and future-proofing. Having said that, fixed wireless that played a vital role in getting internet access to these regions in the first place will continue to be used also in the future. The BEAD program recognizes this. It’s about empowering stakeholders with a broader toolkit. This hybrid approach unlocks a more robust internet experience for rural communities, leveraging the strengths of both technologies.
Of course, there are challenges. Wireless ISPs will need to adapt and acquire new skills in fiber optic deployment to fully tap into BEAD funding. But there’s also a huge opportunity. Many fixed wireless vendors are already being proactive, integrating xPON into their offerings.
This is where Ethernity Networks (ENET) comes in. Their experience in Carrier Ethernet, xPON, and system-on-chip components positions them perfectly. They can provide cutting-edge solutions for both fixed wireless vendors and ISPs looking to embrace the hybrid model. ENET’s leadership in switching and xPON technologies allows them to tailor cost-effective solutions for diverse deployment scenarios. No matter the specific needs of a rural community, they can offer a solution that leverages the strengths of both fiber and wireless, including support for wireless transmission over xPON to allow extension of wireless antenna closer to the customer . What truly excites me is ENET’s OEM-focused business model. This collaborative approach ensures a smooth transition for vendors, ultimately benefiting rural communities by accelerating their access to high-speed internet.
The BEAD program and the rise of xPON represent a $42 billion market opportunity. ENET’s commitment to a fiber-wireless future, combined with their expertise and partnerships, positions them as a frontrunner. As rural communities embrace the hybrid model, ENET is poised to be a trusted partner, bridging the digital divide and unlocking a brighter future for all.

As with all AIM companies the right sort of news pushes price up. If the company doesn't release THAT sort of news the price does drift.
The EGM is Apr 9th the question is will there be news before or do we have to wait until afterwards. We all can hypothesise but it is only the company who will know their plan!
In the meantime the marketing team should be working very hard.
As for people who believe buy, if funds allow or hold.
Good luck in your decision making.
....... announces certain changes to its Board of Directors (the "Board") TO REFLECT THE COMPANY'S CURRENT STRATEGIC FOCUS on its South East Asian business where Baron has an experienced and capable team, WITH A GENUINLY MATERIAL ASSET in the Chuditch gas project in Timor-Leste.
Dr Andy Butler, incoming Chief Executive Officer, commented:
....THE TIME IS RIGHT TO MAKE THES CHANES TO THE BOARD The Board's priority is to progress and realise the value in the Chuditch project in Timor-Leste. IN THE FIRST INSTANCE THIS WLL MEAN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING FUNDING FOR DRILLING OF THE CRITICAL MILESTONE APPRAISAL ON THE CHUDITCH GAS FIELD.
Differing opinions in the Board room?
Going with AB's Plan
GAME on to successfully secure funding for the drilling
We are behind AB as many shareholders were disgruntled after the last raise and the lack of PR.
Time for change of direction.
Good luck AB and good luck LTHs.
Expect the drilling site survey news very very soon as starter.
David Levi, CEO, Ethernity Networks said: “In the UEP3808, we landed upon a unique architecture that enables a lower-cost and higher-end functionality to serve the fiber access market with a unique, and programmable offering for Wireless Internet Service Providers. We are confident that this platform will address the specific deployment needs of the WISP market.”
Ethernity is running a live demo of its link bonding technology at WISPAmerica in Louisville, Kentucky (Booth 324) from March 7-9, and will also be featuring the UEP2025 indoor/outdoor unit, the UEP3808 Combo PON OLT, and the company’s forthcoming new PON solution.

I wonder how the demos and the event has a whole event.
PS
The website certainly needs an immediate an complete overhaul, in order, to be more logical, up to date and much better structured for this fast moving technological space.
Someone in the company needs to grasp the responsibility and quickly imo. Certainly is a weakness and needs addressing for improvement ASAP.

Thanks for letting me and the group know about the presentation.
Maybe you could provide a modified or new uptodate PowerPoint for the benefit of the group members, in here?
Very relevant, in light of Illan Levet's comments yesterday in the podcast
5G is still very much around
Fibre is still very much around
The change in style of the is presentation is probably due to IL creating it.

I appreciate your comments and posts because you do give reasoned information, as a much longer term holder.
As said previously, I do not have to hold the same viewpoints because I have not had to go through the up and downs of the LTH, particularly the downs.
I remain confident that the new additions to the ENET team should promote the company to a higher sphere particularly with the news the the ENET world is well positioned to take up fixed wire support as well as the Tarana G1 units input of chips and relevant software.
PS
I did a small top up this morning

Whilst I posted earlier the link to the Ilan Tevet Proactive interview, I started watching Cheltenham, and have just listened to it.
WOW!!
WISPAmerica24 has seen a strategic move to both Wireless AND Fixed Wire technology implementations, which employ different skillsets and guess what ENET has them !!!! and many vendors do not !!!!!
ENET is a leader in ethernet and GPON technology. They are in place to support other companies needs and so I fully expect sales and orders to come onto the public forum.
This is all about access to the $42 BILLION BEAD fund that is going to give access to rural and poor internet areas.
BOTH wireless (through Tarana link up) and Fixed wire (ENET products) have to be utilised. The remit is low cost, high performance, better bandwidth and future proofing. PON networks can deliver this AND more importantly ENET can deliver this.
Hence HUGE GROWTH OPPORTUNITY.
Ethernity Networks Ltd (AIM:ENET, OTCQB:ENETF) Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Ilan Tevet joins Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with more details of the US government's Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program under President Biden, aimed at enhancing broadband accessibility in rural areas with insufficient internet connectivity.
Tevet said initiatives like the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund and its subsequent expansion to a $42 billion program reflect a concerted effort to improve digital inclusion, economic participation, and educational opportunities through enhanced broadband infrastructure.
Following Ethernity's participation in WISPA America, Tevet also discussed the evolution of the wireless ISP market in America, particularly in rural regions, transitioning from reliance on fixed wireless technologies to a hybrid approach incorporating wireline solutions.
This shift, driven by the recognition of GPON networks' ability to deliver high-bandwidth, cost-effective, and future-proofed connectivity, presents both challenges and learning opportunities for wireless ISPs and vendors. The adoption of new skills, such as fibre optic deployment, is essential for these entities to capitalize on the substantial federal funding available for broadband expansion.
For Ethernity Networks, Tevet said these developments signal significant growth opportunities. The company's extensive experience in Carrier Ethernet and GPON, alongside its integrated system-on-chip components, positions it to offer innovative solutions that cater to the evolving needs of both fixed wireless vendors and ISPs. This strategic alignment with market transitions and funding incentives allows Ethernity Networks to anticipate further expansion and influence in the broadband infrastructure sector.

Cannot dispute your comment but the new BOD members are surely tasked to change the outlook parameters of ENET. The 1.5p Options are an incentive for the employees though the BOD's have to be sanctioned. That will happen at the EGM next month. In the meantime the hope is that links are turned into sales and longer standing contracts to improve the MCAP and SP.
I am with you that they need to show us the money. Nevertheless I am confident of the change around both in support of wireless and fibre products.
Whilst looking forward to WISPAmerica24 feedback, which will happen based on the fact that 2023 and 2022 feedbacks are reported on the website, I will draw your attention to the last BLOG.

After reading I wonder how things have developed ?
1. From Ethernity’s perspective, the conference was very successful, with positive meetings with at least four potential customers, including one especially large system integrator who seemed very keen on Ethernity’s technology. Possible deals were discussed, and plans were set in motion for various tests and proofs of concept to be arranged over the following weeks and months.
2. In fact, pretty much all forecasts for the PON industry are extremely positive and optimistic of late.
3.We look forward to contributing heavily to the growing number of fiber deployments and the advancement of the market from PON to GPON to XGS-PON and onward into 25G and even 50G PON in the coming years.
Stop by booth 303 and don’t forget to attend the “BEAD and Beyond” panel on TUESDAY MARCH 12th at 2:40pm in the Junior Ballroom where Carl Guardino will be joining other panelists to discuss what happens once BEAD funding is released, how to future-proof your network, and more. hashtag#ngFWA hashtag#digitaldivide hashtag#broadband
