I won't post any buy recommendation, as you have to reach that conclusion yourself......BUT
There are a lot of comments regarding the quality of the website, both in terms of performance and design. Many people also quote having asked Chinese friends to review the site for them. However, I think there are a few key points to be considered :
1 - The performance of this site is excellent within China itself. I've tried it whilst travelling on business, so can verify that. This accounts for almost their entire market, so I put that concern to rest.
2 - I think a lot of people have sought opinion from Westernized Chinese friends...... as I confess to doing at one point, before asking them to get a more considered view from relatives in Jiangsu. JQW's selling point is that it is an agency based outfit in regions of China divided by dialect, custom and all manner of other trade barriers. They are not dealing with a Westernized Chinese audience. Look at the cult status of the low tech website 4chan......I can't pretend to fully understand why certain things appeal to certain audiences, as I don't understand the audience JQW is pitching to (in the same way they do).
3 - Cairn were not the 1st choice of JQW when coming to market. Their planned NOMAD ceased trading shortly before placement, and Cairn were chosen to prevent a de-rail. They are not Chinese specialists, and I think it's safe to say JQW will be considering all options in terms of how to improve UK perception
4 - Please do check Alexa for web stats before writing this company off. Just enter some familiar / comparable websites and compare to JQW. I think you'll be really surprised. JQW is currently capitalized at a paltry £12M - look at the value of companies with similar traffic.
