Short of saying, when Newmont made the agreement there was likely a proviso in there somewhere that give them that right to first refusal on discussions to acquire anyway. Why would they not?

Hi mark I m just really saying what I see, corporate manoeuvring and governance is not my strongest tbh. But just based on Newmont had decided to stay in bed with ggp and are the ideal candidate for further M&A activity down the line ahead of a third party that would likely want to take on more than just the 80% controlling interest not held by Newmont who would be unlikely to sell their stake.

Would a major jump into bed with another major?

For whatever reasons Newmont decided to sell their controlling interest and be happy to keep their minority share, the hypothesis can be also considered that Newmont were not willing to take on the risk burden of bringing Havieron into final production themselves. It’s not what majors generally do. Preferring to buy back the success achieved through GGP having taken on the whole 100% of development risk burden going forward.

They have extremely deep pockets and for good reason and potentially a right of first refusal.

To go back to the Option for the additional 5% Havieron JV interest set at US$60m placing full valuation of US$1.2b back then which was just based on the increased NPV from the resource model. Which was then a substantial uplift at over five-times compared to the price implied by the October 2021 Pre-Feasibility Study. Then consider now the significance that once into production DCF across LOM will add to that previous valuation. Plus Telfer mine and infrastructure, plus all the further value that has been added from extensive resource upgrades and exploration drilling since ‘22 that have increased NPV considerably more that will be evident in the updated financial model in the DFS due end of ‘25.

SG , I think their ultimate goal is to follow in the footsteps of Northern star to turn it into a high worth producer. The current board would have then done their job and would potentially move on where their skill sets and experience in doing so then for a second time round, would then be better suited in taking the next big potential that is in that early development stage in its evolution and doing it all again. Their skill sets and incentives will not necessarily be in just the day on day of running a mining operation.

Greatland will become prime to be taken over, potentially taken ‘back’ over and the big difference now will be that as a producer with inventory for a twenty year+ mine life, valuation will be determined under the Valmin code which will allow use of a discounted cash flow model (DCF) over LOM as well as NPV. Greatland is not an explorer any more where valuations are only based essentially on the resource model where DCF ‘cannot’ be used. A major will usually only pay a rate for what is in the JORC with inferred classified material discounted by around 50%.

Few years away maybe 5 to establish its position in the Paterson, future payday could be at a huge premium.

What I understand of the basic principle of NM’s to create liquidity in a flat market when there are ‘normally’ not enough buyers around for them to make enough profits, they will drop the bid to help stimulate buying conditions to increase liquidity. The more unloved the stock the more then that spreads are widened to make more money off each trade which in turn then begins to stifle further buying pressure so they increase the spread…….. It’s a vicious cycle. I’m sure most have seen it all before on your second or third favourite exploration stock that’s tanked over last few years. Any rise from news soon gets sold off so MM’s can then drop again under what limited volume there was.

So where that translates to GGP with increasingly higher volumes now generating MM’s more profits is no real surprise particularly if they can suppress the share price for as long as possible while they can with available shares, as their profits elsewhere are more limited across the most of other AIM stocks.

It is what it is! As much as I hate to use that phrase.

Predicting the share price is like one of the dark arts, but eventually with stronger fundamentals the demand for shares will be too great far outweighing the supply so they will have to start raising prices to feed the demand.

That’s all it’s down to, supply and demand, no conspiracies, but to generate as much profits as they can……probably 🤷

Yes and no Ace, most of it is based on the old JV study, so is quite advanced, there was an item that Bamps stated needed working on which what held it up (can’t recall what without checking) there will be a seperate optimisation study that supports the DFS including various other studies that make up the DFS. ‘All’ of this work is assessed and evaluated externally from the complete data pack supplied by the company for impartiality. The company has no real influence on timescale for completion but rely on guidance. So yes it just needs completing and no, as I would still expect the unexpected to delay, if it throws up something that needs further attention ie from a supporting study.

I think to apply a P/E over per annum x4 just yet is way too speculative for the market.

For same balance let’s just consider that Telfer so far realistically has up to the 15month run of mine potentially and already can be extended another 3 months with ‘additional’ lower grade in stockpiles on the ROM pad that need clearing. Havieron still awaits its Feasibility study that is going to be at the mercy of third party consultancy timescales to complete and deliver it on time that is out of the companies hands as is not produced internally.

Development at Hav will not commence until then, and will then be at the mercy of necessary permitting being obtained for various engineering works within anticipated timescales periodically up to deliver of first ore for stockpiling on time, forecast in H2 ‘26.

There is confidence that Telfer can continue to deliver to supplement additional ore until Hav ore can be processed but until a new updated mine plan is released there are simply far too many assumptions that are being relied on which is potentially reflected in the current share price. Even the Greatland base case for Hav starter mine is based on an assumption of 51mt made up of indicated, inferred or unclassified material. Not all of that 51mt will convert into the updated ore reserve estimate. That would be once all definition drilling data then modifying factors are all taken into account.

Until the updated mine plan and what will be a bankable Feasibility study for the Havieron starter mine is delivered where NPV and IRR can be more confidently derived I do not anticipate share price significantly rerating but am confident on the current experienced board to increase revenue year on year now, don’t get me wrong!

To compare peer for peer would have to be based on similar stage of evolution of development as a company to be fair. Keep expectations in check for now would be more prudent but I guess not as popular.

Ian, one of the 3 objectives for listing, are to provide the group with access to additional capital to support long-term growth. Some of which is mandated exclusively just for ASX listed investments.
