It would be £22.92 pounds equivelent, I think cineworld price for a family of 4 is £23 so there is not much in it, popcorn etc would be optional obv. It's true parking would add to the price. But I think overall majority of families would still prefer to see it in the cinema as the saving at home would be very small and for anyone who doesn't have kids there would even less incentive to pay for pvod.

I agree Pboughton, speaking of 5 years the times is now reporting that the 5 year survival rate for cancer is going to fall due to 250,000 patients who were not referred to hospitals for urgent checks between April and June. Unlike covid where the average age of death is around 80 these deaths will likely be younger. It's an absolute scandal if you ask me. Also there's the fact that even now a&e is seeing less admissions so there are likely people who have died at home who didn't seek emergency treatment throughout the covid period.

A grand total of 3 people died of covid in UK yest under the new reporting framework, and this isn't due to the weekend being lower as the figure is based on Friday (though don't know if lower figures at weekends will still apply under new counting). This doesn't mean much when cine is mostly in USA but could still start to build sentiment in the UK over the next week when the numbers keep coming back low. The downside is more cases, however I think this will be like France and will mostly be in younger people etc, France's cases have gone up but hospitalizations still falling. I am in France atm and it feels like no-one is that concerned about covid compared to the UK, mostly wearing masks because they have to but a lot more people out and about, I hope this starts to happen in Uk soon too.

Hi Scmoky, yeah AMC was at 7.76 on 20th Feb, after hours price is at 5.6 therefore are at 5.6/7.76 = 72.16% of precovid, cineworld was at 189.5p at 20th Feb, so equivlent ratio to pre-covid as AMC would put it at 136.75p.
Cinemark sp is at a lower ratio to pre-covid however of 39%, with their ratio cineworld would be at 73.49p.
I did some calcs before and AMC had around 32% more debt pre-covid than cineworld and 25% more screens.
Cineworld had 59% more debt than cinemark pre covid, but also has 59% more screens than cinemark.

AMC up 4.5% cinemark up 9%, but the market carrying on being randomly negative on cineworld.

Just out of interest, on the crazy day of Tuesday when the sp seemed to go from 54p to around 59p in one second (and then up to 62p in about 1 min as far as I remember). What kind of buys would have caused this? Was it a case of a huge number of people buying small at the same time or would it have been for example an institutional order going though?

French quarantine will likely push travel stocks down which might spook wider sentiment for tomo unfortunately, however AMC up a lot so hopefully will still gain.

Just to annoy Dream Machine current AMC premarket is 65.2% of their pre-covid, equivlent price for cine to pre-covid would be 123.57p

I think you can switch the setting on HL so it only shows live share prices? Atleast it does on my mine when I'm on a stocks page.

Although it's not 100 percent clear if they mean deaths dropped 75 percent from the new way of reporting or they dropped since some other point in time.

In terms of the deaths revised down due to the reporting requirement in UK it seems to say this - "In the most recent week of data analysed, 18 to 24 July, deaths dropped by 75%, from 442 to 111."

This might mean from now on the UK deaths reported will be up to 75% lower each day? I guess because as time went on an increasing number of deaths will have been from the elderly and vulnerable people who made up the bulk of people tested in March, who odds on are more likely to have died a few months later of other causes than the average person.

After now changing the death reporting policy they no longer count a death as a covid death when the positive test was more than 28 days ago so the total death count has been cut, meaning also the UK figure given each day will be lower. This doesn't really mean much in terms of cineworld though could have a small positive effect on sentiment if we now have more like 20 to 25 people in the UK reported as dieing each day instead of 60 or so.

Just buy popcorn for each of those seats and you'll start to see true gains though your 25 shares..
