Under 4 months ago all cinemas were closed and the sp was £1...yeah it's true we had Mulan and Tenet ahead of us (with big expectations and less cash burn then we've had now), but we didn't have the paramount degree nor the arguable evidence of poor returns from PVOD.

That's because comments under these type articles on internet breed a hotbed of negativity. It's the same thing under the comments about struggling pubs/bars/nightclubs/theatres/airlines/hotel chains. A load of people saying "I don't like them/too expensive/I hope they fail".

This approach would make more sense when there are some US states just opening now where Tenet and a few other of the new films could likely still do well for a month or so...perhaps then moving to a reduced operation like UK...while waiting for December releases and hoping covid improves? Of-course people might point out that Sweden had some distancing measures in 2020, but I believe the fact that as you can see 2019 deaths were low, infact their lowest since 1977, meaning they had far more frail people in the population in 2020, rather weighs back against this and points to 2020 not being especially significant.

Part of the problem is the virus is a more low virulence but highly contagious virus, mass testing really only makes sense for high virulence low contagious because then track and trace and containment can work.
