Although the Telegraph and others carry the t/o rumours in detail inluding the brokers involved I would think that unless some provisional aproach or offer had been received or intimated the director would still be free to purchase. It depends on where, if any, any leaks occured IMHO.

As I understand it the abreviation stands for Uncrossing Trade and is due to traders squaring their books . They lend or borrow shares during the day and tidy up at the end. Often see much larger trades of his type in this excellent share. Good luck.

With regard to the sudden share dip yesterday following the latest RNS re the sale of the trust shares I would suggest this is simply a case of "busting the trust" in favour of the beneficiaries (remainder men). There does not appear to be any change to the number of shares in issue and the shares sold were placed with institutional buyers within 24hrs. Sir Iain has apparently kept all his holding so why the dip? Anyone got any ideas? GL

Rumoured government statement due this week announcing up to 20 new gas fired power stations in UK. As WG are building the biggest one ever built in Israel, together with association with RR on the turbine side, could give big potential. Anyone got any thoughts? GL

I think this current spat comes from MOOY's recent tome in which they make much of the fact that the water companies are not currently minded to change the regulation structure in the way that OFWAT wants. This could then be a referal to the Competiton Commission which would take months. The suggestion from MOODYS seems to be that this would introduce a degree of instability as regards future financing and planning for the companies. I am mindful of UU's proposed massive pipeline which the government is thought to approve as a piece of vital future infrastructure and which they may not wish to risk delaying. The compay's stated dividend policy makes it a favourite with many pension funds. A hold in my humble opinion

If OFWAT have set the regulated price for water for the next five year period for each water company plus some allowance for inflation we are not connected surely with the "minimum tarrif debate" which concerns OFGEN and the power companies. Any ideas anyone?
