Whitty seemed pretty concerned about volume of infections: millions per day. Even if doesn't make vast majority sick with so many infected at once is scary picture. Whitty mentioned peak in January: looks like lockdown being prepared to buy time for boosters to work and ease shear volume from causing chaos. Public mood will support lockdown again when cases hitting million per day.

Think that massive ramp up in booster campaign is good news: makes lockdowns less likely and shows government really won't go down lock down route unless has zero choice. South Africa brought in no new restrictions during its Omicron and is evidence peak already reached

Got a horrible feeling another lockdown is coming and Falky will get his way. This government is in its death throes. The 65 tory mp rebellion is mainly because they know this is the entre to full lockdown. All the protect the NHS crap will be about again- protect them from what: actually doing their job

Evidence from South Africa very good. Within 2/3 weeks think all restrictions will be lifted and if RR net positive cash flow with less than 50% 2019 flight levels: seems cashflow roll in once ridiculous restrictions removed and people have confidence to book and pent up demand finally released. I was thinking along those lines. I believe Omicron good but media will just focus on short term numbers and people will become fearful. 2 weeks be pivotal. If government does follow the science then flight restrictions should end and people's unwarranted fears hopefully arrested and pent up demand for a holiday is released.

You right about other sectors but market just reacts to immediate news and then thinks. Will probably be recovering over day and jump on RR results tomorrow. As a company RR share price will hopefully look ridiculous at these levels in just 3 months. But nothing to do with RR; still all about the virus. Once this virus thing is over will be more focus on which companies actually have real long term growth potential. Long term consequences of virus I.e more flexible working should be net positive for tourism and travel.

I'm looking forward to seeing RR as a much bigger energy/ propulsion company and less as proportion aerospace. Really looking forward to results tomorrow; especially details of Qatar investment. Just like Cambridge becoming unicorn breeder hope to RR/Qatar doing it in new energy sectors and creating jobs in Midlands and North.

Tui especially winter flight reduction why RR down today. RR results plus more good Omicron news will see rise tomorrow. These stupid flight restrictions should already be gone now we have community transmission.

I agree; many scientists saying remove all restrictions let it spread to end Delta and save life. But precautionary principle will apply and in 2 weeks pandemic over and RR will benefit. The generic news is basically pathetic if you want real info read the scientific papers or watch Dr John Campbell who reads and interprets them for you. Who cares if it spreads if it doesn't make you ill and takes over from Delta that does make you ill. Its a free vaccine that overcomes vaccine opposition and lack of infrastructure in developing world.

My views is Omicron has genetic material from flu/common cold and therefore less deadly and its not endemic. But do believe be short term panic between numbers rocketing and scientists having definitive data in regard to severity. So I'm thinking may be sell after results climb; wait it out till just before definitive science and go back in. But as always so much going on: if Russia invades Ukraine: huge energy spike. At end of day have to make your judgement call
