Oxford University professor, chief investigator of the Oxford Covid- 19 vaccine trials and director of the Oxford Vaccine Group, Sir Andrew Pollard, helped to develop the AstraZeneca jab in 2020.
Speaking to The Telegraph a year on from the first time AstraZeneca was administered to a member of the public, Prof Pollard expressed optimism going forward – even as the Omicron variant continues to ravage the UK.
“The worst is absolutely behind us. We just need to get through the winter,” he told the newspaper.
Viruses pre-date humans by few billions of years and will be here long after humans extinct. Humans always have and always will have to live with virus mutations. New variant etc of course there will be: it's our immunity as a species; herd immunity that is what actually matters and due to that pandemic is endemic: very much looking forward to public inquiry findings on this nightmare and accountability being attached to various quasi and governmental bits of state that have proven to be complete waste of money: what a bloody useless burecracy we've allowed to grow that's saps capital, labour and suffocates entrepreneurs
