Many years ago I rang Rushmoor Borough Council to ask if I needed permission to put up a St George's Cross on the work building in Aldershot.

They asked me what a St George's Cross was.

I totally agree with you both regarding Tro and if as suggested he was 'swayed' away then shame on the 'swayers'.

I would also add that, although not as prolific on Tecan recently as a year or two back, Trek is also very knowledgeable and both were extremely patient and helpful when I joined.

I guess if you're an ex serviceman who's been kicked out of his hmo and you're sleeping on a park bench then things could indeed get worse, like the council removes the bench.

Next time I talk to one I'll remind them to be grateful for the bench and not to take it for granted.

I'd actually say it started 10 years earlier when blair changed the opening hours. Landlord's costs all increased overnight but it just meant for most pubs people still spent the same amount of cash just over a longer period.

Equally as damaging was the smoking ban.
