Re solar panels - we are getting some installed tomorrow. It will take many many years to recoup the cost of installing them, however it will significantly reduce the energy bills once they have gone in. Around the cleaniness, they were probably the cheaper makes of them instead of buying the self cleaning ones like we did, cost twice as much but we A)won't have the issue of cleaning them and B) the issue with the cheaper ones if part of the panel gets any sort of cloud cover, the entire panel shuts down. The more expensive ones only a small section will do therefore the remainder of the panel will continue to operate. As for house value? its commonly regarded as you will ADD half the cost of the panels onto the value of the house so no idea where you get this idea that they will drop the house valuation. With current electricity prices houses with panels installed will become far more desirable as long as those who choose to move leave them behind and not taking them with you which you can do.
Only takes 1 post to reported or break the BB rules and the entire thread gets deleted. So impossible to know which post caused it's deletion.
Blue - you really need help.
Its so clear you have issues when you come put with statements like that BB.
Buysellrepeat, I do recall reading that article so I don't questions its validity. I just think it is rather out of date and a lot of things have changed.
Sorry my bad
2 years 364 days too long.
When was that article written? I think things have changed somewhat since it was published.
Roxy that's the issue, an agenda was agreed in turkey and headways was made. However the sticking point was and will always be Donbas and Crimea of which neither side was willing to let up on. Hence we are where we are unfortunately.
Chippy its just been clarifird the UK will not be sending warships to escort grain.
I have only read that Zelensky has refused to concede any territory to Russia, but a ceasefire would have to start with the russian forces withdrawing back to the 23rd Feb positions. I just read over on Pog that russia are looking at the peace proposals that the Italians have drawn up. Hopefully they wouldn't have been sent them without getting at least a "positive" view by Ukraine on them and I think that's the most realistic route right now. Crime and Donbas areas becoming self governing and security but remains part of Ukraine's sovereignty. Will this be satisfactory enough for both sides? one can only hope.
Agreed. Even should all sanctions be removed, many business will not touch russia with a bargepole. As much as russia proclaiming they will be able to sell their goods elsewhere, it won't make up for the loss by any stretch.
I read Biden is also proposing a reduction in tariffs from goods bought from China to aid with the current economic crisis. Also ready at a concert at St-Petersperg people were protesting the war. Tjhat would not please Putin happening in his home town.
Email - not long ago it was reported that Biden gave Ukraine the authority to negotiate the lowering of the sanctions. Whether that has changed I don't know but the last thing I read was that at least for the US Ukraine could use the sanctions as part of the negotiation process.
Onlyone i wouldn't call the polish PM visiting and addressing the ukr government in person distancing themselves. But i agree the longer this goes on the more emphasis there will be on negotiating and the terms will definitely depend on how the russian advance is going.
Chippy, Zelensky has recent come out and said that returning things back to the 23rd would be a victory for Ukraine ie crimea still is russia hands and separatists holding onto several other areas. I Don't think they will go for the Crimea yet unless Russia refuse to negotiate. There has been a lot of subtle changes in the rhetoric on both sides which hopefully is a sign that progress might start to be made in the not too distance future towards a long term peace.
There is only so much help people can give Ukraine. It will eventually boil down to numbers and Russia simple has the ability to out more numbers in the field. The being said that does raise the risk back home for them. It does seem like Zelensky is starting to come to terms that the only way this will be settle is at the negotiating table, even Biden has recently said they want Russia to negotiate to end this.
Interesting I read an article the other day that unlike a lot of nations, Russia population is declining and has actually barely grown since the end of the Cold War and is predicted to start reducing by 300,000 lives a year. That speaks volumes about the way the country is run and this war will not have helped matters.
Im seeing an awful lot of filtered messages today lol
Downbutnotout - you should really distinguish that Liz has said we "should" be supplying Moldova, not that we are. A big difference. And actually I would agree that right now we shouldn't be sending them weapons as that won't help things as you have said. But then again I can't stand most of what she is coming out with lately.
